I picked up a Schiit Freya N recently to try out in my system and it wasn’t enough gain so it’s up for sale.

Did you try it active with tubes? It is a huge amount of gain on every amp I've used. Bypass is a little on the lower side, but I've only ran into headroom issues when lots of EQ is applied.

My only complaint is the popping every time a gain jump happens.

Did you try different tubes on the right side?

 

Are you talking about regular Freya and/or using balanced sources? I’m having the gain problem with my phono preamp and LOMC proving too wimpy I guess.

 

The Freya N. I'd be curious what voltage it (the phono setup) is putting out? I have 2volt for my SE and it gets plenty loud.
