I've accumulated a bunch of older R2R DACs, and I'm thinning the herd. These aren't "these DACs suck" sales. They're "I need to free up some room and some money" sales.

The Esoteric uses 2 x PCM64P chips, and the EAD uses 2 x PCM63P-K chips. The Esoteric has only RCA outs. The EAD has XLR outs, but it's a single-ended topology. So the XLR outs actually sound worse than the RCA, and I'd only buy this DAC if you plan to use the RCA outs.

Both are 120v units and in great condition, cosmetically and functionally. The only flaw is some scratching on the top of the Esoteric.

The EAD was sent to Greg Noble for a checkup when I bought it. He also replaced the old brushed silver faceplate with one of the fancy gold ones. I'll include the silver one in the sale, too.

Neither has the original box, but they'll be packed well.

Asking $850 for the EAD and $500 for the Esoteric. Both prices are less than I paid, and include shipping in CONUS and PP fees. (If you're outside the CONUS, we can work on a shipping split.)

Please PM me with questions or if you'd like some photos.

Price drop to $425 on the Esoteric. FWIW, I think the D-10 is better than the Modi MB and arguably the Gungnir Multibit.

Price drop to $700 for the EAD. Both are going up on AudioMart now, too.

So if the D-10 trades blows w the Gungnir, does the EAD, being the more expensive of the two, in your opinion compete with the Yggdrasil?

I haven’t had the OG Yggdrasil in long enough that I don’t want to speculation. It’s possible. However, the LiM is significantly, significantly better than the EAD.

The D-10 is the only one of these three DACs still available. Without even a hint of salesmanship, I think the D-10 is the best bang for the buck of this bunch.

I'll accept any even remotely reasonable offer for the D-10 from Friends and Contributors. I want it to go to a good home, and I want to clear space.

Hey Josh83, just wanted to say thanks for the heads up about the EAD balanced not being with it. I just picked up a DSP-7000 that doesn’t have the XLR outputs, and figured I could have Greg add them later, but now I might just save my cash. Hope the D-10 sells soon, if it hasn’t already.
