Just a rant from an old man in the boonies.

2020-10-29: UPS today announced third-quarter 2020 consolidated revenue of $21.2 billion, a 15.9% increase over the third quarter of 2019. Consolidated average daily volume increased 13.5% year over year. Net income was $2.0 billion for the quarter, 11.8% above the same period in 2019, or 10.7% on an adjusted basis. Operating profit was $2.4 billion, up 11.0% compared to last year’s third quarter, or 9.9% on an adjusted basis.​

and I just got an email from UPs saying "The Retail rates for UPS® Ground will increase an average net 3.9%.".

grumble grumble grumble.

I use Fedex and USPS when I can.

 

I'm a FedEx whore, but UPS has better phone app.

 

Shareholders rule. These types of companies don't give a flying cahoots about employees or customers...only enough to keep you coming back for more.

 

Freight is going absolute gangbusters on the demand side, hence rate rises.. So much so they can't hire and train pilots on the air side fast enough.

Really good time to be an air cargo driver atm.

 

I think Fedex and usps announced their rate hike recently also. I read an article either from ebay or about ebay and all the carriers rates going up. That was at least a month ago.

At least my last little purchase ordered today is being delivered tomorrow by private delivery service .......... the geek squad or a best buy van and at no additional cost.

EDIT: They lied! Instead of driving a geek van 18 miles they are using Fedex and delivery now delayed til Monday., laughs on me.

 

My shipment is standing still for over a week with the same update every other day "

I called FedEx asking what does that even mean? and they said it means there are no available flights and your shipment is still waiting for one :/ .

It sucks but I can't blame them tbh.
