Go slow on the attachments. At least until next month or so.

Measurement guys should attach all they want. In fact, measurements on this site should be in the form of attachments.

Thanks for understanding. We don't have Wiki / Hustler behind our backs maintaining high throughput servers with infinite capacity and rolling in the dough with 35 some sponsorships averaging $10,000 a pop for a year. We're still a mom and pop operation. The ads help a little, but really, no one clicks on them. And please DO NOT click on them, unless you are actually interested in the product. Abusing them is wrong.

I would suggest limiting attachments to measurements posters, or people with high post count, likes received, or what-have-you. For everyone else, a prompt to use imgur or other hosting service would be good. Ultimately it should just be measurements folks. That's probably the fastest route - go to the measurements subform and give those people upload privileges. Anything else important, like meet pictures, can be uploaded to site on case-by-case basis with mod intervention.

Imgur experience - maybe someone will find this helpful:

Last night, I created an imgur account. Everything seemed fine until I tried to login. Account did not exist. Created a second account, same result. Created an account today. Worked fine today. (I feel certain that I was following the same steps today as I was last night. It seems like it would be hard to do it wrong, especially twice.)

Even with no error messages on imgur last night, persistence paid off.

Yeah. I no longer see them on my laptop but I see them on my phone. (I do not have any ad blocking software, btw.)

Uh, that was because I was logged into my laptop and not logged into my phone.

Trying to attach an image, but seems that there's no button for that. :)

However, can't seems to be working attaching from Google Drive neither and I don't want to have an imgur account now just for that.

    Any thoughts, please?

    Thank you!

Button 4 from right on new post screen lets you insert an image saved on a server as long as the image is in a standard format like jpg or png. If you use imgur make sure you save the image as jpg not their default.

I don't use Google Drive to save images (use my own server) but if you can get an https://...jpg link from Google Drive you should be able to use that link to insert an image. Hope this helps.

The OP point is Marvey wants us to avoid attachments (storing pics) on SBAF to save on storage for awhile. imgur is best free option (save as jpg) unless bandwidth is becoming a problem also in which case I could stop posting pics I store on my own server.

Capito, then I'll probably create imgur account or just use my home RPi webserver.

    Thank you,
    Raul.

Google photo works. Just make sure to put the photos in a album with permissions so public can see them.

Here as well...there's no .JPG at the end of the shared link for the photo. I think Google changed this "feature" recently (like they did with Youtube video editor).

    Thanks to https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/photos/Vjn6jmFb0pk

"If you are using Chrome as a browser, install this extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-photos-direct-link/dgnaaplaoheafdckphgmpiaodckbcafg

Then when you need an image, go to:

    https://get.google.com/albumarchive/
click on the image you need
You will see a message on the bottom middle say "Image URL copied to clipboard"
You now have a URL with a .jpg extension that will not expire after 30 days because you are getting it from the albumarchive rather than Google Photos."
