Do you consider GUTB's headphone system to be hi-fi or mid-fi? (Post #185)

And hence why you have confirmed your system is mid-fi at best. You do not have quality interrconnects, rhodium plugs, power cables. Channel Islands Classic records is good quality, but you cannot play just stuff from them on repeat all the timr, which means 90% of any other material is played back bad on your low-fi source, which has been said by many experts here to sound inferior to even Schiit Modi.

Analog mixing console means nothing if material is converted to digital, DSD or not. In fact, it is established that DXD is superior to DSD because DXD requires no noise shaping that ruins ENOB in the transonic range from 25kHz upward.

The Channel Islands stuff is nothing compared to the finest mono pressings from Capitol Records in the late 50s which were all analog chains with the lowest distortion tube gear.

Just because you use fine DSD recordings with mediocre system does not mean your system is high end. As you said, DACs and amps make a big difference. And your front end source and amps are not high end yet.

While there are objectivists and redditorz here, it is the audiophiles you feel your system in mid-fi. Personally I think your system is low-fi because of your source. Garage in garbage out.

Your are a gem. Getting all worked up over potential trap avatars on an audio forum.

In a way, I'm happy for @GUTB. I think he genuinely believes he has achieved summit-fi with his mediocre system. Good for him.

The butt in that avatar is that of a woman as far as I can tell though. Makes me think his senses (sight and hearing) have gone a bit down south.

I would second that. Get an Yggdrasil and I would happily consider your system actual Hi-Fi. But with a chinese sabre dac... sorry, no.

Also: Quality of recording >>>>>>>>>>>> Format

But that has been said many, many times. I'm trying again but I don't have much hope.

Well to be honest I didn't put it there either. But this IMO is a woman. One can be surprised though.

@GUTB , I'm thinking that I am more of an audiophile at this point, with my $60 amp- $80 DAC- HD650s, than you are simply because I can listen critically and with an open mind. I'm under no illusions about my limitations. You have brought nothing to this forum in terms of an articulate, expressive and honest analysis. You have not conceded anything despite systematic and comprehensive dismantling of every aspect of your arguments. Our en masse reactions and memes to you correlate directly to the bankrupt bad faith which you claim is indicative of you living in the "real world." In other words, you are full of shit.

I could never figure out whether it was a baby's butt or a pair of boobs in a very low-cut top. Thanks for clearing that up.

What is considered Hi-Fi here is different than on youtube, facebook, head-fi and other places. There are most likely places where anything regarding headphones is not regarded Hi-Fi.
Another thing is: some people are weird. An acquaintance of mine in RL genuinely considers HD202 to be better hp than HD650 or HD800. We ripped on him for some time, then we sort of got bored of it. For some people there is no cure. At least he understands speakers and can hear past 22 kHz or something.

Turned on? No. I'm too old and jaded for a simple ass pic to do it for me. If it doesn't involve midgets, luchador masks, and/or positions that are banned in some Middle Eastern countries, it's not going to get much of a reaction out of me. As an ass man, though, I do approve of it.

I'm fairly certain that's a woman. Take a closer look at the curvature of the waist and the hips. If you're having a difficult time telling the difference, the problem is that you haven't auditioned enough asses. That's my homework assignment for you: study some more asses until the differences become clear. While you're at it, you may as well figure out what you like in an ass, but I'll admit that this last point is completely subjective.

The audio world is full of phools and phoolish stuff.

We may all have different sanity/insanity/beyond-absurd boundaries, but I'd be suspicious of any "audiophile" who never used the word audiophool. Or similar.

Audiophools say things like what a huge difference power cables make. But hey, last week I found out that my ideas about networking cable in audio were largely wrong. Who knows, next week it might be power cables. Mind you, I'm not holding my breath, but hey, what I'm saying is that ideas can be pretty firmly held, but they are not necessarily made to last a lifetime. The sanity boundaries change. Both ways.

I was under the impression that chi-fi like Gustard was deemed mid-fi at best by audiophiles of GUTB's 'caliber'.

What equipment would make me believe @GUTB is an audiophile instead of a wannabe:

    1) MSB Select DAC: http://www.msbtech.com/products/dacSelect.php?Page=platinumHome
    2) Antelope Audio Rubicon: http://antelopeaudio.com/products/rubicon/
    3) dCS Vivaldi: http://www.dcsltd.co.uk/products/vivaldi-dac/

More entry level DACs @GUTB might consider given he can't handle the best of the best:

    1) Alpha DAC Reference Series 2: http://www.berkeleyaudiodesign.com/alpha-dac-reference-series-2/
    2) dCS Debussy: http://www.dcsltd.co.uk/products/debussy-dac/
    3) DEQX HDP-5: http://www.deqx.com/product-hdp5-overview.php

    Other options exist.

Hopefully @GUTB will stop lecturing us about the DAC's equivalent of a Honda Civic.

But he modded his Hyundai with a cold-air intake. It's a high-performance car now.
