Yep! And to post garbage on at least three other forums! :pirate07:

The new submersible pump is so damned powerful we had to build a new pit to buffer the water. It drained the 90mm fall the other night in no time. But depends on electricity, so the older petrol-driven pump is staying around. We call the new pump Whooosh but actually, its water-to-noise ratio is very high: it is almost silent. And still cheaper than a mid-fi DAC

Water always sounds so much better if you can read it all into a pit before playing it back

Nope. I'm in that place that all mystical things come from: The East! Closer to the land of the rising sun. So sooner reaches me before it reaches you. So ahead in the sense of getting there first, but I suppose it depends on how you define behind. Which brings us back to FrenchBat's Avatar!

(I have always been confused about what people mean when they talk about moving an event back or forward. Maybe I'm confused now)

Studer... very sexy. So sexy, the manual advises keeping a box of tissues by the machine.

I did it again, I am internally convinced that you're a Murican, when you really aren't. Please accept my most heartfelt apologies, or similar!

I accept your apologies for being convinced that I am American --- even thought that is not a nice thing to do to a Brit who grew up near Stratford-upon-Avon. Yes, I am a Brit, emigrated to the land of monsoons and Koth Ganesh :punk:

Even if this is true (never compared directly myself, but I'd be willing to take you at your word) that does not qualify your X20 as hi-fi. That just means ODAC is lo-fi and your X20 is mid-fi.

Again, we have heard the Gustard stuff and it is simply not hi-fi compared to our reference components.

And since 90% of the audiophiles on this forum seem to agree, I'd say it's not really debatable ;)

So which of the following Schiit DACs are lo-fi, mid-fi and hi-fi, and which would be most comparable overall to the Gustard X20?

    Modi 2
    Modi 2 Uber
    Modi 2 MB
    Bifrost D/S
    Bifrost MB
    Gungnir D/S
    Gungnir MB

He can't tell you. He's only compared his Ric Shultz modified X20 with ODAC.

@GUTB: Come back when you actually have more experience rather than getting fooled by people like Ric on the Internet. All you've shown the audiophiles here is that you are a poseur.

BTW, Ric shoves two pieces of cardboard (hand-cut) under the transformers of the X20 as part of his mods. You'd figure he'd use rubber or sorbothane. For those who are unaware: Ric sells mods and does extensive write-ups on the mods as part of his marketing. GUTB is one of those guys stupid enough to fall for that stuff.

Enough said. Let's end this. Time for meet planning.
