Ah I see. If I wanted to do the superdupont mod, I would have to buy from you correct?

In that case, would you invoice me on paypal and then they would be shipped from France to the U.S?

I've purchased a pair of HD 800 from Amazon to compare with the Focal Elears. I prefer a more neutral/flatter signature than the warmness of the Focal Elears so I think the HD 800 would be what I would be looking for but I've slowly started to appreciate and enjoy the Focal Elears in the past 2 weeks i've been listening to them.

How much of a difference does the SuperDupont mod have on the sound of the stock HD 800?

If I don't like the stock sound, I assume it wouldn't make sense for me to give the superdupont mod a try....right?

Sooo... Has anybody tried doing this with the HD700s?

Because I have some spare comply tips and an HD700...

Edit: Dang, the driver capsule is built solid to the driver so I can't get the grill off the back. There goes that idea. I did notice that the HD700 should be able to use the same drivers as the HD6xx's though... Hm...

Edit 2: Tweezers and magnets are not a good mix, thank you for your grills Sennheiser.

I got them both elears and hd800, i will get superdupont today or tomorrow than i will try to mod HD800. Elears are not bad with any recordings imho, they are great all around hp. HD650 are still more forgiving and musical/lush with bad recordings than Elears imho. HD800 are best hp i ever heard when song/recording is good for them and when recording is bad for them they sound like crap/superlux. HD800 hate many recordings from 90s that i use to love to listen (metal, post rock, instruments sound disconnected and i can only think of superlux hp that i tried and hated) at the same time they are best with live recordings, orchestral, ost, classical, and many new albums from 2015-2016 including new metal/trip-hop albums (like slipknot, massive attack) except sometimes you will hear that ringing at 6khz that hopefully mods can help get rid of. I will mod hd800 to get rid of that peak and switch between hd650 and hd800 for different recordings and return elears and fund better amp for sens with elears money.

Hi, @sorrodje. I want to experiment a bit with whatever materials available locally to try to replicate your SDR.

No stores sell specifically Creatology foam here but there are plenty of other generic art foam (with 2mm thickness) for sale such as this one:

And I'm having difficulty finding the similar Felt fabric used in your photos, probably I need to go in person to a larger fabric market to search for it but for now the closest I can find is something like this:

Thickness of that fabric probably about 2 - 3mm. Looks like two stack must be glued together to reach your specification of 5mm thickness for the fabric part.

Wondered if you have some insight to give with trying out close/similar materials into your current design of SDR.

    @rayfalkner:

I don't use creatology foam myself ,I use generic 2mm closed cell foam . the same kind your linked I think. For the Felt , I think you could find a sheet of 5mm adhesive felt . the kind of stuf you can cut and put under chair feets to make them silent on the floor. it's what I use ;)

https://www.amazon.com/RERIVER-Thick-Heavy-Duty-Sheets/dp/B0140K7N00 Maybe that kind of material ;)

Ooh! That's a good example! I got it, should be easier to browse for that. Thanks @sorrodje !

Now just need to find a sharp, thin pointed knife to make the circle cuts...

Excuse the wonky lack of volume matching, but:

The mod has really taken that nasty edge off, thanks so much, @sorrodje!

Just want to say thank you, your mod really revives my HD800. I got mine on sale nearly a year ago and with my tinnitus i thought it was a big fat mistake, hardly use it since then. The most suprising thing is after the mod HD800's bass just sound much more amazing (the measurement doesnt show much), better than my old He560>SR207.
    Thanks again :D

In my opinion , bass is unaffected by the mod. but the 6khz reduction makes all of us listen more or less louder hence the "moar bass" impressions. This and the reduction of the 6khz masking effect but I think it affects more the midrange.

Hello, can someone send me to the most recent instructions for this mod? Or if there are extra from the person who makes them here, I would love to purchase one. Thank you
