    Hey all,

First post on the forum- great resource by the way!

I wanted to get some opinions on the above listed setups. I was able to listen to the H160 vs the Rag at my local dealer (using the DAC in the H160 to feed both amps, streaming Tidal HiFi, driving some Sonus Fabers) and it seemed like the Rag was the more exciting of the two for my preferred music types (EDM and classic rock.) Never heard the H360, Yggdrasil, or any of the Benchmark stuff before.

After a month or so of googling this is the list I came up with. I thought about the McIntosh MA5200 as well, but it seemed that opinions varied on this piece and the MA6700 might be pushing the budget a bit.

Anyone have any thoughts on these combos? Other setups to consider in the sub $6000 price range. (I know with the H360 I'll need to add a headphone amp, so that may take it over $6k.)

    Thanks in advance!

The amp and dac means nothing if you don't pair them with the right speakers. The synergy has to be right. And then it has to be right for your tastes.

I'm familiar only with the H160 of the lot you mentioned. I think it is one hell of an amp personally, but though it is very liquid and smooth it can sound very dry and precise making the bass very tight and lean. It takes time to get use to it if you're used to more pronounced bass.
As said above, speakers are king in this choice. Sonus Faber speakers are usually on the warm side of reproduction. Do what you can to listen at home with your speakers (which are?).
Also preferably with a better dac. The Hegel HD12 alone takes the H160 to another level. The integrated dac is more of an ancillary convenience IMO.

Vinyl is way too mainstream and practical these days. Master tape is the way forward I tell you.

Personally I would pick up a H300 + a Yggdrasil or, a streamer if you need that functionality of the H160. The H300 is only available used or demo, but they are cheaper than a H160 right now, and are much closer to the H360.

    I use my H20 / P20 with a pigtail out for planars.
