    Description:

The much-anticipated IEM 10.0, the cousin of CIEM 10.A has been finally released with brand new faceplate and high quality sound performance. As a flagship universal model of Heir Audio, IEM 10.0 has carried on the same innovative spirits of Heir Audio. Brand new faceplates (Colors series) are applied for the first time as the symbol of youth, and more individuation. Besides the standard version of 10.0, premium package 10.0+ is also available now. You can choose the new faceplateas you prefer and customize your IEM 10.0.

    Performance

The 10.0 was a great surprise as it costs 200€ less than the ProPhile-8's we've reviewed recently and sound at least as good, but with much more body, muscle, impact, depth, weight, more intimate/forward mids and superior treble extension, taking your listening experience to another level, especially on genres where more bass is needed like Metal and Electronic music. The 2 extra drivers per side don't add much in terms of resolution, but do in terms of extension and soundstage/imaging. The 10.0 involves the listener at a level that none of the other IEMs reviewed here do. Sound signature is definitely balanced, even with all that bass, since the mids and treble are also forward and energetic. Not to mention huge soundstage and spatial cues. I can be listening to a guitar solo for instance, but my focal point can be aligned with different locations in space. I'm "looking" at the guitar, but I'm hearing what's around and also paying attention to another specific element in the recording. It's like real world, it's called Spatial Cueing and Shift of Visual Attention. Phenomenas that occur with the Heir Audio 10.0 and make them so special, so unique and full of character. This IEM has soul, a term I have never used before for any other In-Ear Monitor reviewed here.

    Bass

There are no stars of the show here as all the frequencies have an immense potential, but the bass definitely took me by surprise and was love at first glance. Full-bodied, bold, tight, precise with plenty of attack and impact. It has power, weight, body, muscle, shape, texture, extension and sounds just beautiful. There's a great sense of solidity and depth to bass notes too. Music needs this support, every manufacturer should have a listen at this In-Ear Monitor. After all it's possible to recreate a subwoofer inside an In-Ear without bleeding too much into the upper registers. As a comparison point, it makes the InEar ProPhile-8 sound almost bass light, even with the bass switch turned on (+3db). Still love PP8's bass though, so tight and precise, but 10.0's bass is so... much more enjoyable and fuller. And real. I think that's the right word. True-to-life, Heir Audio managed to create the best bass I've experienced from a IEM period. I understand why InEar did not go any further in terms of bass "quantity", it's a reference monitor after all, most suited for professional musicians and producers. The Heir Audio 10.0 is more musical, fuller, dynamic, designed for the serious audio enthusiast and audiophile. Some may eventually prefer the 10.0, even though the PP8 is a piece of art and engineering and as I said on my review, I wouldn't touch tuning a bit. It's outstanding as it is. But that's not all, let's keep moving.

    Sub-Bass

The experience is intense. It goes really low, Dub-Step and Electronic music lovers will love the 10.0, guaranteed. The impact at the very first notes of the first octave is phenomenal. Our Ultra Low Bass Tests have shown us that you can feel it as low as 10Hz and almost hear it at 15Hz. The difference for other IEMs we've reviewed at this price range, is how more impactful, tight and engaging the sub-bass experience can be. Heir Audio takes this seriously and commit no mistakes while tuning. Not a surprise, this company has 25 years of experience in the field of audiology and several building high-end IEMs and CIEMs. The shape, fit, isolation and comfort of the 10.0 also reflects that. Impactful, bold, tight and precise bass and sub-bass is what you get here. The ProPhile-8 as a comparison once again, lacks this power down low, giving the Heir Audio 10.0 the lead placement on the sub-bass departement. It doesn't matter if it goes really deep, but lacks attack. That's what the 10.0 delivers in spades.

    Mids

Forward. A IEM full of body that is also a bit mid-centric, presenting slightly lush and sweet vocals, but very detailed and clear. Intimate. Strings, wind instruments and electronic sounds are pushed to the front for a more intense listening experience. This results very well, all the midrange drivers do a wonderful job in integration with the low and top-end drivers and the tuning is spot on. Mids are airy, the level of detail and realism you can expect from a $1000+ IEM. Helped by a fantastic soundstage. Not as bright as the ProPhile-8 due to PP8's tonal character/tuning, but fuller and richer. Prophile-8's mids sound a bit recessed in comparison, though. And thiner. The 10.0 is also more dynamic and the forward, energetic mids also contribute for that. Remember we have a 2-4-4 configuration here (2x bass + 4X mids + 4x treble), seems like Heir Audio wanted to give the midrange the most priority. Along with treble, but bass doesn't suffer from less 2 drivers at all. It's abundant in quantity and quality. I think this is the IEM for audiophiles, but it will result very well for professional use too. Mainly stage monitoring, also due to the forward midrange. Vocalists will strongly benefit from this.

    Treble

Top-end is delicate, gentle, airy, bright and crisp, not too much, not subdued, the right dose, never harsh or sibilant, perfect control, with excellent extension. As I was already expecrting from a 10 driver IEM at this price tag, cymbal crashes sound alive, all the upper frequencies are very well balanced with the rest of the frequency spectrum, showing great tuning abilities, which was not a surprise too, but it's always nice to see how good treble can sound from all these drivers. Again micro-details come alive and the experience is always immersive, with plenty of air and spaciousness. An example of how treble should be tuned. Never fatiguing, but still plentiful. Treble extension is pretty good, you hear frequencies you can't with most sub-1000€ IEMs, justifying the asked price. It's high-end audio gear, probably sounding as good as speakers costing twice as much.

    Separation, Imaging & Soundstage

"Presence", synonim of realism and aliveness, along with a spectacular sense of space and openness, air, are strong charactheristics of the 10.0, where instruments are "palpable", you can feel the texture, the shape, the age, so real you feel you can reach out and touch the instruments or singers. Soundstage is big and it's not just wide in width, it's also in depth, with outstanding separation and 3D imaging, allowing you to pinpoint the instruments at almost 360 degrees. Layering seems endless, the 10.0 never congests. It sounds so full, so rich, so real and so open at the same time, it's hard not to come back for more. Heir Audio 10.0 envelops you with a natural sound with great harmonic balance and inner detail.

    Timbre

As told on our ProPhile-8 review, if ones goal is to reproduce music as faithfully as possible, then timbre is a significant factor. Timbre on the Heir Audio 10.0 is even more convincing than on the ProPhile-8. You need an A/B to tell the difference though and it's not everyday that you have a ProPhile-8 and an Heir Audio 10.0 to compare. Listening to Roger Waters, The Wall (Live in Berlin) - "Another Brick In The Wall Part 2" guitar solo, I have a realistic, vibrating experience, that I was not counting with after the ProPhile-8 experience. The 10.0's are "timbre monsters". The quality of a musical note or sound or tone is very high. Remember we're talking 1000€+ IEMs and this one surely belongs to this league. I risk to say that nothing below this price can compare. I'm almost sure about this even though I haven't heard them all. But several.

    Dynamics

The best. Excellent sense of timing, involvement, flow, and coherence. The 10.0 propel the music forward and involve the listener and this is what dynamics is all about. 10 out of 10 for dynamics alone. Outperforms all the IEMs reviewed at Golden Ear so far.

    Macro & micro detailing

While macro is more easily perceptible, you don't need to pay much attention to discern the micro-details. The 10.0 captures all the fine detail in your recordings, from the lush shimmer of an acoustic guitar to the complex overtones of a bass drum. The 10.0 can be a detail monster and musical, dynamic, fun, at the same time. I think they're "monsters" in pretty much everything they do. Never boring (at all) and never fatiguing, it's a relaxed, smooth listening, with plenty of detail and micro-detail, helped by seemingly unrestricted upper extension. Micro detailing is a pretty easy task for the 10.0, it's among others, one of their best qualities.

    Beyond-the-speakers imaging

Definition of this phenomena is basically the placement of phantom images or spatial (stage boundary) information beyond the positional limits of the loudspeakers. Here we have In-Ear Monitors inside your ear canals, but the effect is pretty much similar. I had to say a word or two about this, because it's what impresses you most when you listen to a IEM like this for the first time. The experience is almost holographic, instruments and certain sounds are positioned out of your head, like a 3 dimensional environment, but never unnatural or exagerated. Spatial information is many times beyond the positional limits of the Monitor, or at least it seems like so. We have 10 drivers per side, for a total of 20 drivers, less driver IEMs don't seem to do this so realistically and convincingly. Think of this as 10 way speakers, if this makes any sense for you. And the perfect acoustics. Your ears don't need any sort of "acoustic treatment", they're perfect by nature.

    Analytical versus musical. Or both?

Not designed to be exactly analytical, but still analytical, while very musical and entertaining. Rendering complex passages and capturing the lowermost details, is an easy task for the Heir Audio 10.0. It does this effortlessly, with extreme accuracy. Since the slap of a bass guitar, to the strum of a cello, to male and female vocals, to cymbals and percussion instruments, all is so organic and natural, true-to-life. They're analytical, but full. Dynamic. Best of both worlds? Definitely yes.

    On the Movies

It was almost impossible not to watch a movie or two with the 10.0. With this bass/sub-bass, fidelity, soundstage and separation, I guess you can imagine how the experience is. Outstanding. We've used the Sound Blaster X7 here, one of the finest sound cards on the market. It's transparency, clarity and detail retrieval supported by the finest audiophile components would make a good pairing with the Heir Audio 10.0 for movies. Same for gaming where the 10.0 puts you in the right direction especially on First Person Shooters. Incredible experience, the fidelity, the sounds they can capture and the way they reproduce them, with extreme precision and the 3D imaging/soundstaging is astounding. Then, that bold, tight bass, full of impact, attack, speed and extension. All of this contributing for the deepest, most realistic and truly audiophile experience we've had out of an IEM. We need no speakers with IEMs like this.

    Chord Mojo

As usual the experience with the Mojo is more engaging, more holographic, with a wider soundstage and better treble and separation than from a FIIO X3-II or Cowon Plenue D, or even a Shanling M2, for example. Not to mention (most) smartphones with dedicated DACs. The bass is also tighter, with better control. I think it's the ideal pairing for the Heir Audio 10.0, since it's a neutral source, it imparts no color onto the 10.0's.

    Our Verdict

What is the Heir Audio 10.0? It's in our opinion the finest, most cohesive, most immersive and "holographic" IEM under 1100€. It's qualities are unique, making it the most enjoyable, most refined and full-bodied In-Ear Monitor at the price tag. It's fullness, richness, spaciousness, finesse and detail retrieval are unmatched. Focus, inner detail. involvement as no other IEM at this price range does. Outright resolution, dynamic expression and rhythmic drive. Stellar build quality, comfort, fit and isolation. Rare beauty, with attention to every detail, including cable. Our most recommended Universal In-Ear Monitor of 2017, awarded with our GOLD medal, Golden Ear's Editor's Choice Award.

This look like MOT post , may be you will want to notify that you are MOT to mods first and then post about your product announcements?

How do I do that? Do I have to stand in front a mirror while listening, head slightly turned so that I see one monitor?

The sad thing is that we don't know that these are terrible- but the cringe-inducing pushy marketing broadside will tend to alienate people right from the start. This is an object lesson in how not to do it.

A quiet, well-written announcement and an offer of a loaner, on the other hand, might have been more likely to have elicited a fair hearing.

The funny thing is that I saw this last night before the edit. It was just the first couple lines and the emoji. I thought as industry intros go, that was quite nice and left it open for people to ask questions. Then a half hour later there was product splooge.

It seems to be a heady mixture of basic incompetence and culture gap.

    It's not even product splooge. It's a simple copy/paste of a 'review'.

Heir Audio is 'voldemort' at HF

Anyhow, @ArthurFeng, I suggest you have a look at @KenBall's posts for pointers on how best to interact with your potential customer base.

He is banned from head-fi, just f.y.i.

He got caught taking out multiple accounts to sock puppet fellate himself and attack Noble Audio. He was just as much of a doofus about it as he is with everything he ever does. Dr. Moulton at Noble presented the evidence to Jude/Amos and that was it.

The story in the Reddit link post above about why Dr. John Moulton left Heir Audio is the same as I heard from John as it was happening (with more and worse happening after).

Room treatment 101: sit in your listening position and get a friend with a mirror to move around until you see your speaker reflected in it. That's your first reflection point. Now glue the mirror to the wall in that position. It looks AWESOME.

It's a vendor announcement. MOT tag added.

I'm not familiar with all the IEM latest news, and don't know all the details about the Nobel Audio + Heir Audio drama. Just heard a little bit (proly some time ago). None was good.

    We'll see how this goes.

So... there'll be a money back if not satisfied after 160 hours offer, right?

(Even if I did believe in that bollocks, which I don't)

No, I don't think so. Just pay for the advertisement and move along, ok?
