They're still running everything through windows mixer (unless that changed) so it will still sound like crap.

"Now, Amazon Music is making the biggest catalog of Ultra HD music even bigger, revealing nuances that were once flattened in files compressed for digital streaming or CD manufacturing."

This article is mostly bullshit. No one compresses shit for CD (lossy for streaming yes) any more than they compress it for vinyl. And really who really thinks anyone is going to sit down and re-master these albums. Encode them at a high sample rate for release, yes, re-master I doubt it.

And let's get real by example of using one of the Ultra HD recordings they will bring to this glorious life.

eg. Waylon Jennings’ Don’t Think Twice released in 1970 so analog tape. Now assuming they can find the master, (very doubtful, especially in good condition) or a first or second gen, what is the point. Digitally encoding this to 192k makes no sense for audible quality. It is just more bs to get folks to signup for another steaming service.

First, f**k Amazon for calling hi-res audio "Ultra HD" like that means something. Second, f**k yahoo for running a press release like it's an article. Third, no f'ing way am I using Amazon's music streaming service.
