    "[MIDNIGHT RELEASE]

The answer is: yesterday, we were unveiling the "Shangri-LA" Shangri-La Jr. The projected market price is $, which will be used to create an economy-class model by using the "Big Hong" Shangri-LA Technology.

The first prototype of this " Mini-Hong " will be launched on August 11 at the top of the Hong Kong Advanced Sound Exhibition, with the exhibition of " Big Hong Later on to Taiwan, the taa round sound exhibition on August 17 will be displayed at the exhibition room of 音悅音響 no. 311

    Please look forward!"

I apologise that I don't have any real concrete info regarding this. I thought it was interesting, and some here might know more about it. A good SR-009 system seems to cost about 7-8K USD, so this is similar I suppose. I actually like the way it looks more than its big brother, the Shangri-La.

I know its not a proper translation, but "economy class" at 8kUSD made me laugh.

    Likely.

I hope this thread didn't come across as me shilling for Hifiman, saying this is the best thing ever. I actually don't like Hifiman, having gone through three replacement HE1000's. However, as this is around the same price as a TOTL SR-009 set up and competition in the TOTL Stat market is fairly rare, I thought it was worth a mention.

    Very likely.

I give two shits about these.

Okay, more like a shit and a half.

HiFiMan's new Susvara and RE2000 might be grossly overpriced, but they deliver on sound (at least until one has to be sent back for repairs or to be replaced...).

Definitely wanna give these an extended audition tho.

Well, price aside, I thought they (edit: meaning Susvara) sounded "okay", too.

Just that the bass sounded a bit "restrained" in comparison to bass cannons like HE-6 and HE-5, and admittedly, I'm still somewhat a basshead so anything bass on these just doesn't quite deliver "that punch".

But other than that, I liked the mids and treble when I got to hear them. Aficionado was a treat (actually, I think Aficionado is too much of a "cheat" for this headphone). Treble could use a bit less peakiness but then... I'd guess one layer of shelf-liner like the one that we used in HE-6 and HE-560 mods will do the trick.

The main problem is... still, the price. I think Fang should have priced Susvara and this at <$2K (and Shangri-La should be priced not that much higher), but then again, I can't pretend to understand how to best conduct business in China (and just in the interest of this potentially being a red flag, I don't mean for this to be an offense, but that it's clear Fang is mainly targeting the Chinese market with these).

The daddy Shangri-La sounded pretty competitive with most Lambda-tier Stax, so I'm not holding my breath for this one tbh.

Just want to note that it's being called Hong is because it's actually called 小香 (small fragrant literally, but Shangri-La is 香格里拉 so 小香 is just Shangri-La Jr in Chinese.) and Hong Kong is 香港 so...

Edifier (Stax) is probably staring pretty hard with a cocked eyebrow.

The original post is on HFM's Chinese FB page. The link to 音悅音響 confused me.

Edit: Just clued in that they'll be in my neighbourhood in 2 weeks. I could go give them a listen, but having heard neither the Big Hong nor HFM $6000, my impressions might not be of much use to people for comparison (not that my ears/skills are up to snuff anyway).

It was pretty clear that the 50k Money-la was released to make something like this or Failvara look affordable.
I couldn't care less, because this is super planar speaker money territory, Piega Coax audition was revalatory on how sensless is a headphone at this prices.

I brought my Lambda Sig the day I did listen to Shangri-La. Lambda Sig are way better to my ears. Shangri-La sound like they have a bathtub FR, with some bloated and one-note bass, nothing interesting in the mids, and something very "dzingy" up top, maybe the worst highs I've ever encountered with a stat.

All around very unpleasing, meager and unbalanced for me.

Obviously, the amp is completely tuned for them, I did the test just for fun, my Lambda Sig sounded awful from it. I used 353X from Stax official distributor for Lambda listening, booth right in front of HFM one.

Maybe this one sounds better than Shangri-La Sr, Hifiman loves pissing early adopters
