I think SBAF should have their own AI. And let it review products. It can't be much worse than most of the content out there.

I am not trying to start arguments, but yes, Google does rank higher quality over low quality content and backlinks. However, as someone who used to work in SEO not too long ago, Google changes their shit all the time. We always had to go to meetings with Moz about every 6 months to figure out what was tweaked. If it hasn't changed in decades, you could still pay for crap backlink service to give you 500+ backlinks and make you appear #1 in just a few days. That does not happen anymore. Sites that use shortcuts may still have a fast ride to the top, but they will de-rank you hard if you rise too un-organically. Trust me, I had to dig a couple of clients out of that hole and do a whole bunch of crap backlink cleanup.

Actually about 10 years ago they started ranking forum sites higher and SBAF actually ranks higher than ASR in some categories because we do keep the noise ratio down and have much higher quality content.

AFIK, Google has not instituted AI just yet and only started testing AI type search this month.

Nick Land: "Friendly AI is either impossible or worthless. Why impossible: due to instrumental convergence a superintelligence will inevitably hack its utility function. Why worthless: intelligence optimization is the goal most worth pursuing. An AI not constrained by human desires will be better at maximizing intelligence than an AI that is."

Edsger Dijkstra: “They have probably discovered it would amplify stupidity as well … By suppressing the symptoms of impotence they create an illusion of power.”

Vincent Garton: "Artificial intelligence is the origin and limit of the genealogy of the state." https://www.chaosmotics.com/en/variations/machine-decision-is-not-final-ii-2

Late to this part @schiit and others… One must be careful in business if/when using ChatGPT, or it’s ilk (even things like Deepl for translation). Why? Because they get unrestricted access to any/all info you put into them and you lose control over it. So, never, ever, put anything remotely private, sensitive, or intellectual-property in nature.
You can get around it by licensing it, whereby you retain informational “owership”, but that’s expensive..

This is an especially hot topic in Germany and elsewhere in Europe due to GDPR, etc. I had fascinating discussions with customers when in Munich last month…

    Be careful.
PS: I remember playing with Liza way back in the day, and programming “intelligence” in LISP on DEC-10’s (yeah, I’m old).

I love this quote: “If the brain (the source of our intelligence) were simple enough that we could understand it, we’d be so simple that we couldn’t”

AI (like all models) need to be trained.
