    $3400, extremely OBO
Willing to work with shipping and payment fees as a way to bring the bottom line down. Located on the east coast if interested in a pickup.

Looking to sell one of two Eddie Current Studio B amps so my friend can get funds for a limited custom amp.

First amp is in great like new condition. It will be shipped with a full set of tubes, including Electro-Harmonix 300Bs, which new units do not include.

Second unit is brand new, just delivered to me this week and was only set up to be tested. Less than 2 hours of on time. Can work on 300B tubes to be included. Has full warranty, but to be very truthful, i am not sure it will transfer.

Both will ship with the original overbuilt packaging, or preferably pickup to avoid shipping fees. Zelle is prefered and avoiding fees will make it easier to bring the price down.

I think it's worth noting that a new Studio B costs $3500 and there are no transaction fees added (though he does charge for shipping). I understand 300B tubes were added but many prefer going with the more expensive WE replica options to ensure they're getting the most from this amp.

    While I understand what you are saying and where you are coming from, please also look at it from this side of things, and maybe it will help explain what extremely OBO means;
    • While realistically I would love the amp to be cheap and easy to ship, it is expensive ($235 to me) and couriers are doing everything to keep it pricey. Today it was $88 bucks to send a headphone from NY to AZ on UPS, a few weeks ago it was less than $60. If someone is much closer or even local, that is a huge chunk out of that $3400 that can be shaved off.
    • PayPal fees & taxes. Nothing new but these are creeping up, and the PP tax stuff for this year is another layer. Zelle, check, bank transfer, cash, etc. avoids all that and is a decent chunk taken out of the end cost. This is just like buying from Craig, some payments have fees, but he has options that avoid that.
    • While this ideally is tailored towards someone who is close by, may want a local pickup and pays cash... There is always someone who may just want to save a few bucks off of new, the tubes suit them, or maybe buying new in their region isnt the most viable and this works better for them.
    • It is still less expensive than new, and sometimes that little bit is a difference.
I guess maybe the $3400 is better looked at as a top price? Depending on the variables it will either be the full asking price, or it very easily can come down a healthy bit. But i dont want to gatekeep if it fits someone but it may be extreme to get to them. The buyer of my ECP Walnut DAC was from NZ. To get it to him, I rushed to the post office before it closed, overnighted it to a city hotel where his boss was staying that night just so he can bring it back to NZ after vacation. It cost more than i would have paid, but it was better than shipping direct and that was the only way he was getting an ECP dac. And maybe not here but so many try to "getcha" on shipping and fees i rather have that accounted for then discount if i can.

Speaking to a few people in DMs i think we both see what the other side is putting down while trying to also be very flexible as ive even offered some interstate travel / vacations that can be used to drop off gear. Hell, if i had a flight somewhere i would stow it on the plane to save shipping! And truth is if aome people were living closer a deal would have been done but the reality is what it is.

@Souldriver I can see that you are trying, my guy. $88 or even $60 to ship a headphone is fucked up. Use either PirateShip or Shippo and shit is way cheaper. You're paying retail and we don't have to do that shit anymore. Otherwise loaners wouldn't make sense.

Also listing for top dollar on this forum doesn't look the best. It's best to list a bro price up front and let the buyer be responsible for shipping.

@Erroneous I think that is a very fair and level headed way of looking at it. It may be the "headfi" mentality getting to me but it always felt easier to start high then scale back. I also did not know about the shipping and ill look into those options, i think we can all agree that rhe money is better not in corporate pockets.

Hmm ok, let me see what my friend needs money wise out of this and then work the other way of sorting shipping and fees etc.

It may be a few days so @jexby @shotgunshane , please let me know if you want to keep this open and i will edit, or if you want to close and ill post new once things are clarified.

Ty you all for your insight as well. In other places things like this get into a pissing match very quick, but here it was nice to see through others eyes and to explain myself as well.

@Erroneous i also fat fingered and hit the dislike button on your response. Not intentional, just fumbling in the cold and realised later. Hopefully my response clears up that i understand and appreciate the insight.

All good dude. Just read the "spirit of the market" thread. This particular "for sale" market is intended to be between friends, which is why people have to gain access to it and why it is gated in general in listings. A lot of the gear that's listed here among friends is listed because we want to keep it in here on the site with the people we know, so we sell it cheap and hand it to people we've been talking to for years.
Head-Fi is something I know I stay away from, and I think everyone here would agree we're much more friendly than there. Get to know the crowd here and you'll likely begin to understand that you can trust the regulars. But still be wary of anyone who isn't a "friend" in the marketplace, unless you know them. We've opened up to "contributors" a lot recently, but it's very easy to get that badge.

Holy hell - thank you for mentioning PirateShip / Shippo. I was just in the same boat. When shipping the full distance (im on the east coast, all the way to the west), a pair of headphones shipping costs nearly 50 dollars. So your tip here is extremely helpful to mitigate those kinds of costs! Much appreciated.

TBH the spirit of the market thread could use some updating -- and not just WRT recommending economical shipping services.

I recognize SBAF is not foremost intended for trading gear, but there are certain guidelines that I think warrant revision e.g. "Don't crap on for sale threads - You may not agree with a price or a product description, but as long as the seller is not dishonest in his representation leave it alone" --> "Don't be a jerk." Case-in-point:
This is a respectful and informative remark that only benefits the community, contrasted to some pricing-related bickering in another recent classifieds thread (some Gungnir Multibit A2 FWIR).

Yeah it’s a bit hard to parse as a newbie. I know Marv has said outside of that thread that a good rule of thumb for selling here for kilobucks gear is to offer it at something like 50% off, whereas that shouldn’t be expected for under 1k “value” gear like many Schiit items. I know that isn’t a hard and fast expectation, but might be good to include it in updated guidelines. I’d be willing to offer such a bro/friend price for my own gear, but if I was @Souldriver I don’t think I’d venture to put a friend’s gear on here unless they were really okay with that and understood they are providing some value to people who will take care of the gear and be able to appreciate it, despite their not making as large of a profit vs. the potential elsewhere. For some people, knowing an expensive piece is going to a bona fide enthusiast and not some USAM rando or whatever is motivation enough.

I think that is a decent way of looking at most gear, but something like that being put in the guidelines can be misconstrued as dictating pricing and i dont think anyone wants that. There are always exceptions, if this was an Eddie Current Studio T they basically go for full retail $7k price on the rare occasion they do pop up. I think even for here that $5-7k would be an appropriate range from really great to acceptable pricing but thats not even close to the 50% mark. Not saying a T and B are the same thing, just an example of an exception.

I also listed on SBAF to make sure those good people that are here, but cant stand the other audio forums can see it, and get first dibs. It may be the impractical glass slipper for most, but there may be that one person whos feet were molded for it.

Rare and nearly unobtainum units are likely not to follow the used pricing norms for readily available components.

For reference we were looking for $3100 in pocket.
It sold locally for ~$3200 (Cash + Trade).
