Very good and mindful impressions friend.
I just had the opportunity to try tia Fourte and Shure KSE1500, but not in the same day...
Please do not take their impressions very seriously, but although the tia was excelent, it was kind of a V signature
The shure was neutral, sharp and more resolving. I liked the KSE1500 more.... and it’s cheaper.

@TheBarnard Yes, it works as a Bluetooth receiver or transmitter. It also works with every USB DAC I’ve thrown at except Yggdrasil or Gungnir Multibit, due to power issues. If you put a Powered USB hub between Yggdrasil/ Gungnir Multibit, the M1 works well.

FYI - do you have the latest M1 Firmware? They implemented a roll off control setting.

I enjoy the M1 too. Great bang-for-buck. I use it as transport with Oppo HA-2 if I’m going to be stationary and just use it straight if I’m on the go or need the convenience.

random impressions - bassy edition + rumour mill shit
    1. fender fxa-11, was expecting an updated aurisonics 2.5 but got something like a souped up 1plus, against the vega, bass is better defined, tighter and goes lower, more sub bassy, quite coherent with more sparkle than the 1plus but a little less than the vega, more W shaped than v shaped, going from stock cable to the dita cable with 4.4 bal... detail, definition and coherence goes up, more linear and really impressed, bass hits really hard but only when called for, able to sound civilised with acoustic music, able to resolve subsonic bass that defines the recording space on live venues, colour me impressed.

    2. sony xba z5

it's not a well loved model and personally preferred the ex1k and 800st over it, but hearing it driven balanced (dita mmcx/4.4) really tightened up its loose flabby bottom making it a more laid back take on the new** sony sound, in line with but in some ways better resolved and balanced interpretation of the z7, z1R tuning. I preferred it over the lyra and vega but only when driven balanced... perhaps a sparklier, more spacious accustune 1551 cu with, dare i say, a better fit.

fitear air 2 - unfortunately, its back in japan and wont return until next year, air 2 will not replace air, they are considered as differently tuned, with a "passive radiator" according to the Jaben

** potentially exciting news, according to the guys at jaben, Sony's Just Ear CIEM spin-off, returned back to the Sony Electronics fold, and with it, Bandai-san (designer of the ex600/800/1000, MA900 and tuning engineer of Just Ear CIEMs) who is developing a universal version of the just ear design which will be the flagship sony iem successor of the ex1000, no word on whether it will be a hybrid like rest of the the just ear range or a DD only design, but it is happening. Also supposedly, Just Ear ciems will roll out in hk by late 2018.

    that's it.

Wow this Sony news is super boner inducing. Thanks for the update.

I have been curious about the FXA 11 but it is super expensive, so is it up to par versus other TOTL (I will not say worth it, nothing is worth is at this price). Also how is the build because lower models left to be desired...

against vega or dita dream which are similarily priced, sq-wise it's more than competitive, IF you are into that more visceral than neutral type of sound, its staging is similar perhaps a little less precise.

workmanship is ok, but definitely not "totl", at least it uses 2 pin and not the worst mmcx implementation in the world other fenders suffer from. they shouldnt have used a transparent shell for the ear-facing bit tho, you dont really see the innards aside from the back of the yuge DD driver and you see the less the pretty screws they use and the bluish cast is a little cloudy.

Thanks a lot, I am all for visceral, but not super bassy fatiguing. I was left unimpressed by the Vega, and the Dream sounded a bit thin (supposedly it needs better amping).

re.dream, yes, better amping plus a few hundred hours of Lou Reed's metal machine music played in a loop really helps, but it's still lean in the mids (treble balance easily resolved by using the narrow bore tips) but better and more balanced via the sony gold brick. then again, for that price, it's in "more than decent" speakers/headphones territory. (i listened to the bryston 3-way big bookshelf "mini A" - which costs less than the vega, today, which puts things in perspective for me)

    Hi everyone,

Where can I buy sony hybrid tips? I used to have them and loved them, but seems like everything on amazon is rated as fakes.

I’ve been pretty happy with the Symbio tips on my Noble X. Moreso than the stock tips.

This is quite interesting, Final Audio launched a crowdfunded (Japan-only?) semi DIY/self-tunable IEM series... https://www.makuake.com/project/final/

There is a 3BA, a hybrid and a DD model, all with tunable filters/dampers

The KEF M200 are decent dual dynamics. A bit too bassy for my taste, plus I hate the earhooks. But overall really good.

That said, I think a single high quality DD is perfectly adequate to cover the range of human hearing.
