It is a pretty cool idea AND product for the targeted audience....I like it for what it is.

You got the most experience with equipment racks (well that I know personally anyways) you don't think $400 is too much

Oh one thing I did like was the cable guiders. Not for any other reason than because you can make a mess quickly

Hey Bud! Hope you're keeping well. :)

Looking at the product from a target audience perspective, it is actually well designed. The price is on the higher side of the market they are aiming at...it should be priced closer to $200 to $250. At $400, it is not a good buy because at that price, you want to start looking at a more solid design to hold higher quality equipment. This rack is better for those ION, Stanton, Crosley type turntables. At most a Pioneer mass market or a Techcnics SL 1200 turntable.

That Salamander Archetype stand is actually a way way better buy. It is a very solid stand capable of handling much more serious turntables. That is where my money would go along with a Ikea Kallax to hold the records :) With this setup, you still come in much cheaper than the kickstarter project stand.

I purchased a VTI BL404-13 for about $500CDN all in a month ago. Dunno how effective the spiked design is but it looks good (for MDF) and supports 300+lbs of stuff. Was really easy to assemble minus the infuriatingly flimsy tape they used to cover the end caps.

In the US I think you can probably get one to your door for $300 or less via Amazon and others.

Note: If you order, the shiny silver/black end caps are actually the "black" ones. The dull silver ones are the "silver" and the gold are obviously gold.

Here is what it looks like in real life. My floor is off by a few degrees so I needed a few coasters to level the platter... o_O

The VTI logo is just a magnet and easy to remove if you want.

I would rather just try to make something myself out of actual wood instead of shelling out a 300 bucks for some mdf furniture.

To be honest I don't know why mdf is used everywhere is it really good or just cost cutting?

Cost cutting. It won't last and it looks awful. And it's toxic.

When it rots away it becomes mush and falls apart while losing rigidity. Real treated wood is always a better option.
