Yea this recording is absolutely great in all aspects. Highly recommended.

Sorrodje - Trondheim Jazz Orchestra dug the tuba! Always sounds great to me in a jazz context. Gotta share some tuba now.

Great playing, great singing (especially by Gretchen Parlato). Not a great recording, but nothing glaringly wrong. Well worth the investment.

Inspired by MoatsArts' post about the rackett, some comb & paper with a gang of all stars. Yes, that's Glenn Miller's suave sweet trombone. And, of course, Pee Wee's unmatchable piping.

I LOVE the re-issue of this album. The perfect soundtrack for a late night or lazy afternoon:

Also, I'm amazed this thread has gone 4 pages without this album being linked:

Gotta get that Canadian content in there eh!

I see a large range of what's considered "Jazz" so I'll play along - I'm a huge Smooth Jazz fan - Paul Hardcastle, Marcus Johnson, Marcus Miller and Rick Braun are among my favorites.

I finally scored a vinyl copy of this Cool Jazz gem:
    http://www.discogs.com/Trio-Pim-Jacobs-Come-Fly-With-Me/release/2415843

Hard to get because it was never sold at retail; it was a promo given away at Christmas to the employees of KLM airlines. (hence the cover and the back with the KLM CEO)

First class renditions of some standards and the sonics/mastering are straight out of this world good. Can't recommend this one strongly enough, IMO it's an album with true "universal appeal". Check it on iTunes or whatever streaming service you have available. (the iTunes version is surprisingly good sounding)

This got me into jazz back in the day.

The second half of the live version is pretty amazing too.

I don't know if this truely should be in the music section of the forum, but I am fairly excited either way.

For whatever reason I love jazz covers of rock songs. Brad Mehldau, Chesky, Christian Scott they all seem to have outside influence that is pretty cool.

I happen to really enjoy this Nirvana cover, as free form jazz and grunge are an odd mix, but this turns out fun as hell.
