I like it. Random kindness to our "enemies".
    That's the best kind.

I like it too. Seriously. Show we aren't always in your face or "mean". But I have to hear these cans first after all this. Too late to get on the loaner program?

Mental defect today, keep spelling to wrong!

Put you on the list when it get back to California. Long line.

    Good point.

Heh. Always good to stop once in a while and ask ourselves: are these people really are enemies? We get caught up, but at any moment there is the possibility of reversing course. Like Luke Skywalker, who at the end, refused to give in to hate.

Thanks Marv for satisfying my curiosity. Or if we ever have a mini-meet in July maybe then.

The door that made me buy headphones in the first place (twixt living room and bedroom, and it is not thick) is open due to an AC failure (cool air is going in there from here, aided by a pedestal fan).

I am under strict instructions that, as I sit here doing my night-owl thing, I should not make loud noises, especially laughter.

    You are not helping

    Not helping at all.

Damn... Never mind pissing off your wife, you seem to be determined to ruin my marriage! Or make my head explode as I turn purple trying not to guffaw. If it wasn't for @ultrabike, calming me down with his History, I'd have been thrown out in the garden with the cats by now.

I think I'lll have to send you an expletive-filled PM! Oh, and one to @DigMe too.

Now I'm off to watch some Youtube videos on precision machining. Oh wait, these workshop guys make jokes: it was that that got me into trouble last night!

    Sure, no enemies.

But this thread really has turned the spotlight on an arsehole or two over the past few days.

I really don't like the idea of giving SonyDefender the phones. But perhaps an apology for calling his daughter retarded? (Can't recall if you ever did that, @Marvey; I know you edited your post). Honestly, I'd prefer the latter, in his case... Though $1500+ phones are nothing to sneeze at either.

Perhaps I'm just saying the obvious thing.

HF reminds me of a story. You have two identical barrels; one is filled with fine wine, the other with sewage. Question; what is the result if you introduce a spoonful of fine wine into the sewage barrel? Sewage of course. What is the result of introducing a spoonful of sewage into the barrel of fine wine? Same answer; sewage. There may indeed be fine wine there, but it's ruined by the pervasive odor of sewage to me.

Sending SonyDefender the Z1R seems like an expensive way to make a point. Send him the Singularity 19 and a printout of the praise for it on headfi. He'll probably re-purchase the Z1R to go with it.

SonyDefender: I thereby apologize for using the words "mentally retarded". I should have been more careful in reading the posts instead of skiming them or relying on second hand information fed to me (I generally do not read HF). I am a curmudgeon from a earlier age and quite dumb when it comes to understanding the precise use of modern lingo for an assortment of diagnostic conditions. Pleas understand that there was absolutely no intention to mock your kid. I can understand the sensitivity and should have known better because I suffered and continue to suffer from Tourette syndrome. It was difficult for me as a kid to deal with the taunts from other kids because I exhibited physical and verbal ticks that I could not control and did not understand (I was never diagnosed as a kid, and my mommy thought I was weird and hit me).

I always love that analogy. It applies to so many situations in life.

I think many of us here my have this, but undiagnosed.

Sorry @Thad E Ginathom. I understand. Have the same issues here too. Been too hot to sleep upstairs, so on to the downstairs couches. Got in trouble last night because I got hungry and decided to fix myself some eggs. Tried to do it quietly and then dropped the damn pan. I will try to keep my humorous comments under check if I can. :D
It's just there's so much good material here.

I'm sure I haven't looked hard enough but this is the first time I've seen S.G. described this way. And it hurts lol. Guttenberg's glowing review of the Oppo HA-1 was a factor in my purchasing it long before I stumbled upon SBAF. I'm not "unhappy" with it, but let's just say there is some buyer's remorse over "what could have been". FWIW I blame HF for the Alpha Dog purchase.

The content from the good folks here is the reason I've not bought much new HP related equipment... I'm waiting for an HD6XX successor to come around and pass muster here before spending another dime. Come to think of it, I'm exactly the type of forum participant that HF (and HF's sponsors) doesn't want and I'm sure this is the biggest threat that Jude perceives from this place.

S.G. has been described that way many times. But not with a wide distribution perhaps.

I actually bought my Mirage Nanosats based on a review S.G. put out in CNET. As it's usual, he went all bananas about it. Now he probably forgot those ever existed:
    https://www.cnet.com/products/mirage-nanosat-home-theater-system/review/
(I think he changed the start rating. I remember it was like a 5 out of 5 or something like that)

I can't say the Mirage Nanosats are horrid. they are not. But they do suffer from not being able to reproduce anything south of like 250 Hz. I would have liked some sort of caution about that. The Energy Take 5 were probably better.

Here is the post I was referring to, and that got Jude to follow me:
    https://www.head-fi.org/f/threads/cnet-who-wants-perfectly-accurate-sound.624888/page-2#post-8667789

EDIT: LOL! Reading my post then I thing I said I preferred CDs to LPs or something like that. I still think CD is a better medium. But LP format seems to get the better releases. I also ended up not liking the Phonak in the long run. Better than the ER-4P for my situation though. I later learned my ear canals are relatively fairly wide and I hear what many consider bassy IEMs more balanced. That is not a problem with full size cans IME though.

Geez Marv, I wasn't aware that you were a Tourette's guy! I love the "my mommy thought i was weird" like, show me a good mom that doesn't think their kids are weird and I'll show you a liar. So just for clarity, did you and the crazy HF guy actually interact or are you apologizing symbolically?

This thread is too high-octane for me to stay in touch with but I definitely agree with people squandering their money on this hobby at the expense of their children (taxes I'm ambivalent about given the state of the current government and the behaviors displayed by the big man in charge). I also love that this lunatic threatened to knock out @JK47 's teeth, that made me L-O-L. Hey btw JK47, we should hang out and listen to some music and have some whiskey soon.

Well, I don't exactly have access on HF to apologize to him directy! A lot of people don't know this, but last time I checked a few months ago, I was silently banned. I wanted a "banned" banner below my name, but Jude wouldn't give it to me, so he took away my rights. I can still log in, but I have no access to anything. Anyway, the apology is and sincere and direct, since I know those dudes read the stuff here. I messed up plain and simple.

    LOLOLOL!

It's not anything like that movie Rain Man (Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise) with the coprolalia. The coprolalia on my part is purely intentional and possibly hereditary. Although sometimes I might blurt out "pussy" at home since its a more secluded and "safe" area*. My kids are used to it and usually comment "Dad's doing it again". It's different for everybody who suffers from it. Most people can control it in external environments like the workplace, but it takes energy and concentration. It's harder for me to control it when I am psychologically stressed. My physical tics largely subsided with age (I think), the vocal tics are still around. It one of these things where you guys would probably never notice. You learn to adjust and hide this kind of weirdness from everybody. No one knew WTF this was before the movie Rain Man came out.

P.S. Don't worry about giving me shit. I'm not looking for sympathy and I prefer for people to be direct with me. I don't need hugs and kisses. In fact, I don't want it. The fact is, EVERYBODY's got some f'ing condition or sad worry. I mean shit, one our friends, one of the Changstar founders, died from complications of cancer treatments a few months ago. Rex privately let me know what was going on, but he mostly kept quiet. And then he was suddenly gone. I didn't talk to him much as I expected him to bounce back; but shit, I didn't even get to say goodbye, or follow up with some questions I had on horns speakers (one thing we shared was our love of horn speakers and big woofers).

    * This does get super awkward when you think you are safe at home, decompressing with the tics, without realizing your kid's tutor is over.

I took the liberty of sending it to Sonic Defender. I've really enjoyed my time here and just told him you guys are really nice. Which you are.

In hindsight, the word "nice" is lame, but oh well.

Oh, and I've stuttered my whole life. Sometimes more, sometimes less. What's really annoying: when I stutter in my car saying "OK Google" and there is no one else in the car.
