Oh don't worry about it. I feel exactly the same way. The important thing is to not act on it.

sorry to interrupt the reddit thread break down, but:
while the $1500 donor helps the SBAF coffers, exactly how does it help the dude who lost his job thanks to Jude Prick's ranting about that which is none of his business!?!
    WTF.

this needs to be called out in forums other than SBAF.
Jude isn't tall enough to be (acting like) Vito Corleone.

Someone at HFM got fired over the theft of a loaner product that was then paid for? That's terrible.

Why would an employee get fired because of a loaner theft from an enthusiast group?

Well this person did also gave Jude a hard time (jokingly) for not packing the tubes that went with a loaner amp sent to him (Jude). As I've said, never f**k with a King, especially a self-styled one. Over time, people like that get a warped sense of their own importance. The other mistake was allowing SuperBAF access to HE-X before the VIPs at HF. It wasn't even intentional and no one here was keeping track. We don't care who is first around here. In fact, we don't even care what HF does, unless of course Jude sticks his head into our business, which seems to be a recurring theme.

I told my wife this story over breakfast because she is wise. Her response is that Jude sees SuperBAF as a threat. Seriously, I don't even get it. HF is 100 times bigger, we don't take sponsorship money, and we crap on products. I don't see how there is any competition, unless it's just a vanity or evil Bond villain thing from Jude.

Well, if an organization is built on controlling information, wouldn't the disruption of that control be threatening?

I just don't think like that. The zero sum game is a fallacy. Easier to grow the pie than to take all of it.

Well, he did say he did something to the effect of walking naked around the house with an HD700 on his head.

Well you're not a megalomaniac yet, give it time!

(I'm just poking fun. I don't have anything against Jude; I don't know him.)

Your wife is indeed wise. He's probably not that afraid of sbaf morphing into a new HF and taking his ad money. But he might be afraid of sbaf calling him out on a lot of things which would make him lose his street cred and hurt him indirectly.

I did not know that someone got fired over this and similar from HFM. Very sorry to hear this.

I also read the conversation between Jude and PacoTaco.

Jude definitively sees money out of HF. There is no question in my mind. And he would have to see the dollars sign in Mo-Fi before doing anything. The trip may have been paid with his pocket, that was very likely done with the intention of adding a Sponsor or something related to that.

I think Jude sees SBAF as a threat because it's taking a good amount of head-fi's "best" users and combining them with some of reddit's. It's not a threat in terms of quantity but quality of users. I may be off but if I were in his shoes that's how I'd view it. I look around here and I essentially see only the people I'd trust to purchase gear from, people who review things in a good fashion, and people who aren't so vulnerable to falling for "this costs more so its better" logic. Head-fi may be great at getting new blood and getting them to spend money but its utility kinda runs out to an extent once you get to the stage where you know what you're doing. And while losing those members doesn't threaten his money, it threatens his reputation and he certainly sees someone who cares about that maybe even moreso than the cash flow.

If HiFiMan can fire their own employee over such a trivial occurrence, that is probably not the company one wants to work for?
Employer / Employee relationship is very important. There are employers that go out of their way to protect their employees. Then there is this kind.

You forgot that we have the Superdupont Resonator. That probably diverted a fair number of readers from head-fi, seeing the number of orders Sorrodje received from new members.

wow, just read through this thread. not to beat a dead horse or anything, but theft, especially in these scenarios that involve TRUST, is completely fucked up and such a violation. it reminds me of a near crisis when my bike was almost stolen. i love my bike, and noticed immediately that 1 water bottle was missing, and the saddle was almost loose. i guess they gave up on the bike and tried to grab stuff off of it.

little did they know, they grabbed the *wrong* water bottle. it's one that's marked with black tape around the rim, and is used EXCLUSIVELY for peeing into when i'm in a tent and feel too cold or lazy to go outside.

what i'm trying to say is... karma, pay-back, retribution etc, is a real bitch and they'll get theirs in some form or other.

It's like you said, he's a self-styled king with an overblown sense of importance. Of course he'd see a place like SBAF as a threat. Over on HF he can shake the ban stick if someone speaks out of turn. Here we're all speaking out of turn.
