Yesterday, we were cleaning the apartment. I told my wife not to try to clean the TVs as all they needed was a simple dusting. Notwithstanding she tried to clean the screens. She sprayed a tiny bit of Windex (Ammonia free at least) on a microfiber cloth and went over the screens. The smaller Samsung Q60s were fine, but the larger Samsung Q80 was terribly streaked afterwards.

I tried to go over with a very lightly damp (water) microfiber cloth and then a dry one going in a gentle circular motion. But whatever I do we have terrible streaks. I don’t see any scratches. The TV looks fine when on, but awful to look at when off. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can clean and get the streaks out. Thanks.

Try a tiny amount of isopropyl alcohol on a cloth. Works for me, although I have not had to deal with Windex streaks

Make a 1:1 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water, and spritz a bit onto newspaper or a microfiber cloth. Wipe gently.

Thanks for the advice. I went out the other day to try and find the right kind of alcohol but my local drugstore didn’t have it. Anyway, I pulled out some clean microfiber cloths and tried to give buffing another try and guess what, the smudges came out. Now why didn’t I try that first. Well, I did. We have a lot of microfiber cloths and wash them after using. I had tried buffing with one of these “clean” ones without good results. However I had a few that had never been used before. Those worked well. In fact about halfway through the cleaning, the first one stopped working so well and I fortunately had a second unused one and that cleaned up the rest of the TV. There are a few small smudge spots, but it is more or less good as new. Well lesson learned on not using other products on the TV.
