Emotions most likely. And the lack of any responses or updates. I would very much like to stand corrected.

 

Pure speculation, most likely the solution they promised is not scalable enough.

 

Working on an update...won't be leaving the amps or you behind!

Was able to pick up one of these used. What a sweet little brick of an amp. My first real tube amp, also own the MTCH but for tubeyness there is no comparison.

I got lucky and do not have the humming issue. I hope that massdrop fixes that issue and provides another drop so more people have the opportunity to get one.

 

I do not want to sound like broken record... but it has been already 3 months without any (material) update.

It is getting really hard for me not to come to a conclusion that you in fact are leaving the amps and us behind.

Thanks for being a part of the Massdrop Community!

This is an update regarding the Massdrop x Eddie Current ZDT Jr. amp. Over the past few months, we’ve been working with our manufacturer to uncover the root cause of the hum issue brought to our attention by some drop participants. It was determined that some of the main power transformers for the first batch were wound in such a way that there was a magnetic gap causing the level of hum to be significantly higher in one channel. This issue has been resolved in our new product batch.

If you are experiencing a hum issue with your amp, we’d like to offer you a replacement amp. The best way to tell if your amp is impacted is to listen with sensitive headphones, such as IEMs, which have low impedance. If you find the hum of the amplifier noticeably louder in one channel, then your amplifier qualifies for replacement. Note that all tube amplifiers have some level of self-noise but it should be consistent between the right and left channels.
Please respond to this email by January 15, 2019 to let us know if you want a replacement, and we'll send you a return label so you can send your defective unit back to us. We anticipate new amps to ship in February 2019.

Excellent. I am glad they kept us updated. Now we will have our amps ~13 months after ordering... but finally the correct one without issues. Customer service matters, thanks Massdrop.

 

Thanks @CEE TEE for staying on top of this. Working this out between countries and languages must have been tough.
Don’t blame anyone for being frustrated. But this is one great amp, at a great price.

 

Really hoping for another drop with the corrected model, sadly I missed the boat the first time.

 

I was so discouraged by the reports of hum that my Jr that arrived several months ago has been sitting under my desk unopened. The information is encouraging so tomorrow I'll set it up and hope I'm one of the lucky ones.

Darn, sorry you didn't even want to try it during the waiting period. Rather than opening and re-packing, you can also just ship that one back to us and get a replacement that has been fixed, @dumbo.

Apologies for everyone's trouble. We considered different variations of re-working plans. In the end, this is the smoothest approach to getting your amps to proper spec.

The group and thread here was productive and helped test and investigate root cause + fix in parallel with us and the manufacturer. I want to thank all of you for caring about the amps and pushing to keep them out there being enjoyed where they belong. Getting a good solution was really important to myself and the team here too.
