Oh wow, $100? I'm definitely buying a pair at some point.

Very, very unlikely. Even some studios struggle to get a noise floor that low. For it to happen naturally in your home, even in a very quiet environment, is pretty close to impossible.

    O. Well I guess I wouldn't know. Never been in a studio before.

    Marv,

Any comments on how you'd compare them to the HE-560? I'm considering a pair just because at this price it's kinda moot, but curious what you think.

I'm considering these as a gift for my little brother. I bought him the M50X a while ago as his first 'real' headphones, and it might be a nice next step to get him open backs.

50ohm, though - he's not going to have an amp, and I want to make sure that these are going to be usable for gaming, since that's probably his primary use.

Looking at the specs, these seem pretty similar sensitivity wise to HE400i's, which from personal experience could get good volume out of phones and computer jacks, but are significantly improved with amping.

Just a hypothesis but Hifiman Pleather pads might do wonders for these looking at the frequency response. Do you have any to try on the HE-350?

First few consumer reports are just starting to come in on these. Pretty much all said light on bass, great-sounding mids, heavy on the highs and verging on harsh. Several seem to really be hoping the sound sig changes with burn-in. Anyone here have them yet (I mean aside from the early reviewer models)?

Just got my pair in from Massdrop, it's definitely a bass light treble-y headphone, found that out the hard way when I gave it a bit of eq based on what I saw the he-300's measurements to be. Treble immediately became sharp and grating. Mids have a strange quality to them, they aren't warm like the sm3 or even the um3x, but more flat and neutral sounding. One thing though, the gimbals seem to be really short. Admittedly i have a large head, but I've had to extend the arms to the maximum point.

tl;dr, tf10 without metallic sound, oddly less comfy than what I expected from a hifiman

Got these in the mail just now. Listening from the Jotunheim...ooowwww, that treble with the @Psalmanazar steel. Lowered the gain immediately and that's more listenable. Actually, looking past the treble S&S (steel and sibilance), I kinda like the overall sound which aims at more neutrality. I have not done any modding with TP so any photos of such a mod would be greatly appreciated. I should try this with the Black Widow as well.

BTW, these are not comfy but I am used to the Audez'e and the HFM cans - 400 and 500. Come on, its a 100 bucks.

How are these compared to the HD 558/598/599/5XX line though? I guess that's the market the HE-350 is meant to target.

Sorry mate. I have not listened to any of the Senn H5xx. This is one of those "I'm bored" purchases TBH.

    Hi everybody,

As suggested by @Koth Ganesh, I performed the mod for bass "improvement" on these HE350 :

However, I was unsatisfied by the boost and quality. Yeah, low frequencies are upped but they sounded rather nasty to me... But I still wanted more bass so I did another "destructive" mod but which really suited my tastes better. If you want more bass but not as much as the first mod provides, you can go for the following :

So the mod tells you basically to remove completely a little "sticker" and there you go. What I did is that I let the sticker where it is but made five holes in it in order to let the wave propagates but not completely. I could have done a better job and one should notice that if you do that, there is no turning back (except if you have a piece of this material, if anyone as an idea where I can order some by the way).

The remark of the last paragraph led me to another idea and I would be glad knowing your opinion. I think one could change the material of this sticker. I read recently the article provided by @Hands and @Tyll Hertsens about these filtering materials :
    http://www.innerfidelity.com/conten...paper-headphone-modifiers#1UqgU7rJvdxRmOJZ.97
and if somebody is able to cut out of these materials some disc and stick them on this hole at the back of the driver, results could be interesting. I may go for it anyway, just to try, but let me know what you are thinking.
