Some hum, but will not be noticeable unless you listen at 160db SPL.

NOTE: higher N on L ch is because of one of the cables (makeshift RCA with BNC adapter - I can't find the matching pair). This is confirmed when I switched the cables for the next measurements.

Again, discrepancies between Lch and Rch are because the I used the makeshift cable on the Rch.

Due to the hum that it audible at 160 dbSPL, I can NOT recommend the X-Sabre Pro MQA. I can't see how you'd choose this over a Topping D30.

Could the unit under review be defective? Looks like it has a much better power supply than the Mytek Brooklyn DAC+ which uses a low cost switcher and would be a better value for someone who has to have MQA except for that hum issue.

It's possible that it's defective, but I really don't think it's an issue. 160 db is.....very loud. Very berry loud.

Like, even if you had super ears that could take that level without damage, you'd probably have other problems with your system like clipping, blowing out your transducers, etc.

P.S. My first post this thread is a joke for all those not in the know.

I'm fairly certain that it was an Amir joke.

Just had my first cup of coffee. My bad, I am all for more Amir jokes. When friends ask me for advice on a DAC my standard reply is Bifrost/Gungnir/Yggdrasil depending on depth of pocket. For those who just have to have MQA I think I would now point them to the Matrix X-Sabre Pro while reminding don't blame me when you get tired of MQA.

After studying this graph, I am going to check out the Subaru BRZ. Seems to get me faster to a real live concert experience than the Matrix X-Sabre. IMHO much better versatility as well. (I own a Subaru Forester at the moment; I like the general tuning but dynamics lack a bit).

I'm turning into a wine and cheeser...I'll take the Miata and trade track tenths for top down.

Thank-you, I'll take the Porche 918 Spyder with lifetime supply of Depends option for those moments when Ludicrous Mode just isn't fast enough for Baba O'riley.

I always suspected that Modi 3 is more than Geo Metro.
