I bought a pair of these from @Hooncake already built. There was some crossover drama from shipping so I bought the boards from ebay.

I also want to either add polyfill or Acry-Tech Acoust-X. I like the idea of the Acoust-X sealing the box from the inside.

Does anyone have experience with the Acoust-X ?

I would also like to hear any other tips or tricks to dial these in.

    Hopefully you found this thread.

You should be able to find build instructions on-line, but “dialing” these in only really means adding and then subtracting polyfil until you find the sweet spot of bass response that you like. I stuffed the cabinet full and then used painters blue tape to seal the box. I then listened and kept removing and listening until it sounded good. Pretty straightforward. Good luck with it.

edit: That acoustx stuff looks cool but pricey. Bear in mind these are cheap speakers. I would try using polyfil first and if you have resonance issues then solve the problem with fancier means.

I like the idea of the NoRez (thanks). I will silicone all the seams on the inside first.

Any reason why you need to do so much damping? Is their a problem you are trying to fix? Just some polyfill messing around is about all the designer and most who make these ever need to maximize them. I will admit, there was some honk in the midrange that bothered me that a little recycled denim behind the woofer solved, but the drivers are really the limiting factor for these speakers.

The trick with the NoRez is that it absorbs a larger range of frequencies than something like the Parts-Express version, due to the multi-layer construction. You'd probably still want to experiment with adding some polyfill, as that will change the resonant frequency of the cabinet/driver system.
