lol. Blues feel more like a real 'mechanical' feeling switch, in that sense i like them more. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with Blues, just the people you live with might.

Tried O-rings with Browns. Ugh.. not for me.

My first mechanical keyboard was the dell at101w which I bought not knowing what a mechanical keyboard was. The clickety clackety almost cost me a roommate :)

I moved to USB with a das Keyboard cherry mx blue keyboard. It requires way less force to depress the keys than IBM buckling spring or but still has satisfying tactile feedback. I highly recommend cherry mx blues for anyone typing or coding. It works fine for my casual gaming as well. I've heard das keyboards quality has suffered in their outsourcing to China and moving away from cherry switches.

Uhnn, how I missed this thread? I have spend more money on keyboards than in audio stuff.

ATM I own only three MK, Keycool 84 with blacks, CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-I with browns, and my baby love, Leopold FC660M.
Looking forward to buy the Novatouch and the FC660C, just cash is stopping me from pulling the trigger

BTW, Leopolds are a solid choice, nice build quality with thick keycaps (just avoid the top printed ones)

What's the difference between the 660m and the 660c?

The 660c uses Topre capacitive switches which are arguably the best switches for typing due to their feel and silence

I used buckling springs forever but my fingers were tired at the end of the day and they were f'ing with my tinnitus.

I found Cherry Reds are the best for me now. Cloud of boobs with no fatigue and consistent actuation.

Thanks for the feedback, have been interested in buckling springs, but if they aggravate tinnitus then it's not going to be a happy relationship! The consistent actuation is also what I appreciate about the MX Reds and I don't have any finger fatigue even after a long day typing. Just wish I could get the typing accuracy back up.

oh ok, i was work so I couldnt look at mine, but I have the fc660c, brilliant keyboard. It was my first Topre keyboard. Finally got one since this Leopold 66 key one was the cheapest topre i could find, and didnt want to spend a ton since topre's are love it or hate it. but i love them now.

Darn you all, now I want a mechanical keyboard at work.

Are they actually that much louder than a dome membrane keyboard? I tend to hammer the keys pretty hard. I want something that is as quiet as possible but still giving a tactile feeling for typing. I am thinking that getting a better quality keyboard may mean that I don't have to type as aggressively.

About a month or two ago I asked a buddy of mine to borrow his spare mechanical keyboard, a Steel series of some sort with red switches. It took me a little bit to get used to after having membrane keyboards my whole life, but I'm a convert.

I plan on buying a magenta Ducky Shine with red switches when I can safely afford to. I really like how light and responsive Reds are, though they took a bit to get used to. When I was playing LoL I noticed a pretty significant increase in my reaction time, so if you're a gamer who relies on quick key presses then I think they're worth trying out.

I'm response to the post above, I don't find red switches loud at all. I've heard Browns are a good all around switch, but I don't know if they're loud or not.

I would miss the extremely satisfying tactile feedback and click of the cherry mx blues. It makes me want to type. The sound is half the fun! ;)

I've never tried blues, but I think my girlfriend would kill me if they're loud!

    They're pretty loud...

    Think typewriter noise levels.

Personally, I like the clicking sounds.

I wouldn't mind them, but she loves to sleep and I like to stay up late. They sound fun to use though. How does it affect your choice of headphones? Do you favor closed/iems over open?

Doesn't affect my choice of headphones at all since I don't mind the noise.

They're one of the better switches to type on. Super satisfying.

Thanks for the link, I actually just stopped on my way home and tried out some blues, reds, and browns. Other than the click of the blues, most of the sound seems to be from bottoming out the keys. Not much different from the keyboard I already have in terms of sound.

The feeling is really great. The sensitivity and rebound of the keys is a noticeable improvement. I can really see why they are popular.

Well, imo, the "click" on the blues make them much louder than any other popular cherry mx, I found that the quietest are the blacks and reds, you just need to tap and boom, done. Keycaps also change the sound when you bottom up.

BTW, blues also fatigue me really faster, and before buying my Leopold with blues I used the Keycool with blacks for more than one year, and never had issues like this with the blacks....

    Got a new keyboard today!

Went with the Corsair Strafe RGB. I know the lights are silly, but it helped sell my wife on it since she thought it was pretty :p

I'm very pleased so far. Went with the Cherry Browns. Really easy and fluid typing. I'll probably post on here a lot more now just for an excuse to type a little more :p

The silent switches look pretty fun, but as I use this at home there's really no need to spend the extra money for them.
