They do in parts of the world. Americans drive their old reliable Chevrolets which is all good. I think thats great.

~20 years old cars are still on the road here..

Minority due to rust and just the risk of owning something that can break down any second. There are next to No ~30 year old cars on the road. I am talking models in the range of 1990 to 2000. The oldes models that people drive are some 98 to 2004 Passats and maybe some old Toyota and the like.

This is here in Estonia (climate ~ Canada, slightly warmer). A lot of countries change their fleet faster.

The 20 to 30 year old cars is a sports car or something special not regular family car.

10 year old cars are fine. 15 is starting to get quite old.. Risk of rust is quite big. If the body start rusting you are unlikely to invest in a car. There are models that you can get.. I am thinking like a Lexus or some BMWs even but then you are in the Old market.. All kinds of risk come up there. A alot of people are not interested in owning these car because they dont have time to mess about.

Okay.. I drive a 2011 car. I'd still say that cars 15 years old are getting in the tooth.. Mine has relatively low milage but your gonna face cars that have at least 300 000 km in this category. Many of these are going to need a lot of maintenance.

"EU cars are now on average 11.8 years old."

    Statistics:
    https://www.acea.auto/figure/average-age-of-eu-vehicle-fleet-by-country/

    https://www.acea.auto/files/cars_fact_sheet_ACEA.pdf

So I agree here. 10 year old but 20 yo is getting quite old. I would average out that people are mostly not going to be interested in 15+ yo cars. There are going to be models that the test of time is going to filter out as desirable and ones with good reliabilty, other which were kept as secondary cars with ~low milages. These are still going to be rather rare here.

    --------------------
I did some research and the likely increase for EVs power needs (If all cars are EVs) would be around 30% to 50%. Given the scale this is a big number.

Yeah, whiter than my caucasian wife. I guess it's a thing over on the China mainland. Not into the oval head, almond eyes, super white skin. The problem really is that it's become some kind of ideal, so all these women strive to look the exact same. This is really the gross part.

I've noticed the commies spies have gotten better at filling out the work experience parts since when they first started.

Legitimately curious what these spies would do to someone via LinkedIn.

"Dear 55 year old random executive - give us company secrets or I tell your wife you divorced 10 years ago that you talked to me one time. This is FINAL WARNING OR ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!"

I've gotten similar thirst trap inquiries when traveling before. Always end up being something along the lines of "buy my random keyboard smash brand clothes + cosmetics pls" and not something more nefarious though. Maybe I'm too low on the totem pole for the real traps?

So this claim about W11 being "leaky" is most likely false flags, or cherry picked. Seems legit since the vid has 34k thumbs ups.

Questions is which Laptop is this guy using? Random company can install random software on W11.

Reported in the WSJ. Document from WSJ repository (access to this document was locked after it was reported).

    https://s.wsj.net/public/resources/documents/stanfordlanguage.pdf

It's pretty funny. I'm not sure I'd rather be called "unenlightened" than "tone deaf". An argument can be made that "unenlightened" is culturally inappropriate because it can be perceived as ivory-tower, elitist, having a stick-up one's ass, loving the smell of one's own farts, etc. The scary thing is how did the IT department at Stanford have to time to do this?

    Some highlights:
    • white paper -> position paper. Hahahahahahahahaha
    • yellow team -> DevSecOps team. Hahahahahahahahahaha
    • Jewed -> haggled down (ok, this one is legit, but c'mon, this one is obvious)
    • tarball -> tarachive. Huh? I thought tarballs were the crap that I got on my clothes after I sat down on the beaches near Santa Barbara

^ omg, they nailed the SF look, as least back then when the episode came out.

Zuh? That's aviation slang as the throttle lever in many planes has ball shaped handles.

Yeah, friend of mine is a pilot of small planes:

Balls to the wall (firewall) = full throttle.

Keep in mind, this was written by academia. Guys who don't use power tools or know how the change the oil in a car.

I used to be academia. Financed my philosophy degree by working as a construction laborer. I can sharpen pencils with a angle grinder.

Being an academic is no excuse.

And yet, under gender-based language, there's no mention of bachelor or master degrees. Then again, a "mistress" degree might be problematic, as might a "maiden" or, lol, a "spinster" degree.

Very weird. In many cases, the suggested usage is simply a definition of the word. In most cases, one is expected to use a whole lot of words instead of one.

I am a firm believer in the power of language, and the necessity to change it, but these things should be done by evolution, or, at least by the creative and/or brilliant, and most certainly not by the dumb administration. Or should I say the non-verbal/non-vocal? No, I should say the stupid!

And yes, a tarball is the unix/linux equivalent of a zip file: made/extracted using the command tar. I think the derivation is "tape archive." Some of this stuff relating to technology of the time, like your tty (terminal) is a telitype.

There is a wondrous tome knocking around the internet called The Jargon File (link added) and I'm sure the authors of the Stanford document would hate it. It represents a rich vein of history.

I like "a person devoted to fentanyl" but doubtful about using non-verbal non- vocal instead of dumb.
Some very dumb people are not only extremely vocal and verbal, they have great credentials.
