    LOL! Yes. And No.

If we are talking about a small group. You are right. It is harder when you are dealing with a large portion of your own population. Because you are whipping out yourself. But you are right that a few M-16 have nothing on a real military internal intervention.

Civil war is the worst thing that can happen to a country.

But... while there is prosperity, life is good.

EDIT: Never let the military do the job of the police unless shit really hits the fan. The military are not the police. They have a different training and purpose.

Not only do I disagree with you factually, I would even (as respectfully as I can) say that you are in the grip of a progressive narrative that simply is not reality. We do have 35,000 troops (and untold billions - maybe trillions - in equipment/infrastructure) in Germany, or 30,000 in Korea, or {really, how long could this post be}because it is in the average Americans self interest. Self interest and "benefit" defined in what way? The way of the last 100 years (that BOTH parties fully indorse) or so of progressive thought - a thought story about how the only real alternative to aggressive political (which surprise surprise surprise, just happens to align perfectly with consumerist and moral globalism) is a refuted "isolationism".

Trump in his own limited way gets this, and his nascent questioning of the progressive globalist narrative is evidence enough of his outsider status. What if we actually made our own goods, or had others make it that did not require us to act/pay to be their army? What if we had a vital and growing (instead of stagnating/shrinking) manufacturing base that supported a real working and middle class? What if we did not spend all we had and what we don't to be an army for Germany and the rest of the world? Heck, if we had a conservative instead of a progressive foreign policy we might even be able to afford "universal healthcare".

No doubt, change for the worse in many cases would happen. Europe is wishy washy progressive basket case, and they damn well could learn a few things by being governed by the Russians for a few decades. The Russian's, despite the mistake of Bolshevism, actually have a clue as to what it means to be a vital and functioning civilization.

Some in America do benefit from the status quo. The elite governing class - those who all go to the same schools, get the same leadership jobs in media/industry/government, and who have the same progressive opinion about this as you benefit. The 99.9%? No, we do not benefit at all unless you count ever rising taxes, government control, inflation, and an economy fundamentally hollowed out for the middle class a "benefit"...

You mean Amazon drone? They fly regularly over civilian areas in the US.
Sorry but cannot take it seriously anymore. :Violin:

You probably do not get this perspective, because you were born in America, and have not been exposed to the alternatives. Many countries want the quality of life that you have. And they would kick your ass, or hurt it something fierce, to get some if they could. I'm thankful that our military is making sure that our ass is well protected. And fully respect their efforts.

There is nothing progressive about our military might. If our trade is strong, we are strong. Our military enforces that.

And those folks are now going to be under a sphere of influence that is not your own, and your quality of life will suffer for it.

If we loose our sphere of influence and remove our military overseas. You will continue to pay shit tons of tax, if not more.

Mexico has virtually zero military presence outside it's territory. And so I could say about every other random third world country (the vast majority of countries). Do you feel their tax situation is better than your own?

LOL! Military drones are the real deal actually. They are not the Amazon kind.

Man, I was going to say things are looking up. Nothing to worry about since I have faith in our economy. But that damned overpopulation problem really concerns me. At least somewhat in the long run.

A military that did not have to park (a mostly conventional) force all over the world would be even more effective at protecting the homeland because it would be able to put its limited resources where it counts: a numerically large and effective MAD force consisting of nukes, hypersonic's, death rays, warp drive, and whatever else that is needed.

Nah, man does not live by bread alone - and when he does, he can grow it in such a way as to not require enslavement of himself and his children to most (all?) the rest of the worlds broken civilizations. This anthropological reduction of man to a crude kind of "homos economicus" that is enslaved to foreign trade/empire building is central to the progressive myth, whether it be the right "conservative" version or left "liberal" version of the myth. Maybe because I was born here I see this myth for what it is?

Not necessarily. Granted though, if all you do is implement a conservative (non-progressive) foreign policy and keep a progressive internal one, then you would no doubt be right...

I mean, if there is a way to effectively protect our interests overseas w/o any military presence, sure. We do have nuclear submarines here and there. But those kind of wipeout enemy forces, along with the country we were having a nice trade agreement with.

As far as bread, it is indeed not just that. It's all. And we can't seem to have enough of all. I don't like consumerism. But it's a fact of life. I mean, you do like good quality audio and drinks right?

As far as tax. I don't know of a single third world functioning country w a tax system that does not suck ballz. And those include liberal, conservative, progressive, whatever. It has nothing to do with ideology from what I've seen.

Drones didn't do anything to eliminate the Taliban. Neither did Soviet helicopter gunships before us. Tens of thousands of troops and hundreds of thousands of bombs dropped from B52s didn't stop the Vietnamese from eventual victory (after being a colony of France, they just wanted to be independent).

A US General is more likely to pull a bullet in the head of a dictatorial president before we get to any of this. It's not just the Constitution. It's the people, the institutions, and traditions behind it.

BTW. I don't view my perspective as absolute. That doesn't mean I'm not serious about it. I just know very well I can be wrong.

With that said, I was born in a country that was a colony. Fully under the control of the European Spanish Empire. And I'm indirectly a product of that. I've seen the effects and motivations behind the many European French, Spanish English and German interventions in Mexico.

There was no real isolation then. There is no real isolation now.

Mexico at some point was under Maximilian I of Habsburg with full Spanish, French and German support. The story goes on and on. Colonial times were not awesome, and a clear hierarchy was in place at some point depending on your level of European-ness. As in, are you 100% European, 90%, 50%?

The invasions from the other countries were resource motivated, or trade, if you can call that trade.

And this is why we have the military we have. To not be a colony of such nature.

But, that is just my perspective. That very well might be all wrong.

Come to think of it, the best way to conquer a nation is not with drones, guns, tanks, or troops. It's with Social Media and AI.

Your fear of Amazon and other tech companies is something fierce. Perhaps you should get off the internet. Stop using your phone. Don’t watch tv. Don’t use a credit card. Don’t go to the doctor. Stop driving. Never enter another building (cameras everywhere). You know SBAF tracks your location every time you get on the site right? Have you disabled browser cookies? Do you have tracking pixel blockers? Are you using VPN? Are all your communications encrypted? Do you use text or email? Have you ever googled anything? You wanna bet every time you purchase your favorite headphone gear, that info is being sold to someone? Ever see those ads at the gas station pump (that’s the “non-invasive” oil companies treating you exactly like the terrible tech companies). And speaking of the terrible tech companies that are very evil compared to “traditional conservative leaning” businesses, do you own any of their stock? Is your 401K growing thanks to them? Do you think your fellow conservatives don’t invest in those same companies they publicly despise? Because they prefer to not make a buck over supposed ideological objections?

You want to be free of tech tyranny, all you have to do is stop using it. Buy a small farm, grow some potatoes, barter with the local population for various goods and be happy.

That job is almost completed in some countries, very much under way in the US.
The most fertile ground for research in this field, with government support, is in China. That's why Twitter, Google, Facebook are so desperate to get back to be friendly with China government again.

One more thing, do a little research on which companies DJT (our lord and savior) has stock in.

You are exactly right. That's exactly where they are driving. For most people that would mean to be deprived of any means to work. Or education during the lockdowns. That exactly is the goal. If you cannot be whipped into submission, die.
All other points you are making are ...beside the point. I am just lucky enough that, after spending most of my professional live working for one of those great companies, I do not have to give a f**k about them anymore.
Well .. to the point of course :(

It's both. The old way was church (any random one), and behind that when there was sufficient resistance, guns. Neither by itself stands.

Social Media (filling in for the church) includes CNN, Fox News, and Trump's gospel delivered to you by Tweeter.

To me it always funny to see one media criticize the other media, for being media.

@ultrabike , I am directly questioning this either/or dialectic between the status quo globalism and "Pax Americana" world order, and isolationism (that itself is nothing but an anachronism of pre-WWII America). The third way I support is robustly militaristic in the sense that no one is going to invade North or South America without suffering nuclear annihilation. It's not "third world" in trade either, though it does not guarantee (and thereby enslaving the American tax payer) our trade partners militarily. Even the Roman's did not guarantee trade/prosperity of those they conquered, but they sure did demand tribute. We do the opposite in that we guarantee trade (with military coverage) without tribute.....

Of course such a thing or any other non status quo policy is not even on the radar of most Americans and just about all politicians and leaders.

Dude, we are in many ways more in agreement than it may seem. Indeed, f**k with north, central and south America in a significant way, and shit is going down.

In a way, there will never be full isolationism or globalism as defined by those ideas. There is just going to be something, and us trying to make the most sense out of it. And it, not being fully under anyone's control.

Indeed, no one can guarantee nobodies safety. And when pulling back is necessary, pulling back will happen.

As far as tribute, we have it, but it is not obvious. Many times, though not always, it comes in the form of interest, in the form of more $ for my goods, and less $ for yours. Stuff like that. The problem in many cases is that benefits to America, do not necessarily benefit all Americans the same. There is still a hierarchy here in America as there is anywhere else. But it still amazes me the food basket that we are. Where a homeless can eat a nice BK ultimate burger almost on a daily basis. You may not find that in some other places. But unfairness and all that stuff, yeah, that is going to be universal.

EDIT: And even when we do tend to have good deals given our position, I also agree that stupid shit will happen. As it always does. I still palm my face when I think back about how we let China take over tech the way they did. I saw that front row seat.

Pretty sure they have it better in the posh parts of London. One dude in Leicester Square asked me what was in the bag. Peking duck and xiaolongbao. Sure.

Little tidbit: thousands of umpa lumpas appear in the middle of the night to clean the streets of London, at least the parts we see in the James Bond films. Hey, I had nothing else to do since I was still on Pacific Time.

Not sure. I was with a friend here in Anaheim, and he gave a burger to this homeless dude that was asking for money. I shit you not the homeless guy got pissed off, threw the burger on the floor, told my friend WTF was that good for, and gave us all the finger.
