When you play this song on a good day, life starts to make sense. Life is starting to make sense...

I am happy to have seen Chester live. Linkin Park is without genres. So many good songs that connect the gap between the pre-2k years and 21st century. This could have been song by any other good Prog band, yet it is a Linkin Park song.

New Haken is making me realize I'm a real glutton for punishment.

I didn't give "Vector" much of a chance originally. Sounded kind of plain at first? Boring? Radio friendly? I guess I'm just used to them having more upfront flash and overall weirdness to hook you right away, with plenty to dig into from there.

Been listening to more shit while working from home, and reading that "Virus" was meant to continue the story had me intrigued. I had no idea "Vector" was about, well, anything, and knowing it was centered around the Cockroach King, as silly as it might be to come up with a whole story for that, led me back. I read some story theories about "Vector" and realized I came at that album from the wrong angle. (Yeah, I don't usually keep up with this stuff. 95% of the time I have 0 idea what the lyrics are for any song or album.)

I've grown to quite like "Vector," but, damn, "Virus" is fucking great! Carousel and Messiah Complex in particular have sufficiently rustled my jimmies. I like the blend of old, weird, random shit, the heavier, more djent-like sound, and attempts at incorporating other influences in the mix. Comes together really well on the album.

Put on Glutton for Punishment just to test something real quick. Accidentally listened to the whole dang Messiah Complex set. Again. Oh well.

I had been aware Virus was coming since Portnoy tweeted about it, but I hadn't realized it was even available, I had been going off the release date of the vinyl album. Messiah Complex III - V have me hooked...
