Angel of Death has matter of fact lyrics. There is no moralizing. Slayer do not have to moralize like a stupid Hollywood movie to tell you that guys like Mengele, Dirlewanger, and Shiro Ishii were awful human beings who deserved to die. If upon hearing what they did, someone doesn’t think that they deserve to die or wants to waste resources feeding and housing them apart from society while children starve on the street, then there is something wrong with them. The most human and metal response is to just want to kill them. Slayer evoke that.

Spiritually? Metal lyrics are mostly about Satan, serial killers, and burning the church. Literally.

Metal and heavy is a broad genre..

Go bragg about deserving and killing to your war vets, whos life callenge is how to succeede with blitzkrieg type assaults and tactics. (USA mil strat is based on fast assault tactics)

Have served next to USA Airbornes and EU Nato forces, people that face this shit never bragg about it.

I don't think there was any bragging happening... Think of Angel of Death more like a BBC doc on Mengele, only with tritone riffs.

Agreed. Yet I still appreciate the track. I dare you to bring up "Vicarious" by Tool. Seriously the Metal genre is full of ambivalent compositions that deal with tragic topics that are too often overlooked in our education and regular journalism.

I double dare you to bring up System Of A Down's album "Toxicity" and then restart this argument.

Fuck it I triple dare you to bring up Iron Maiden's "Run To The Hills." Repeat the argument and I throw you the curve ball of Dire Straits' song "Man's Too Strong" followed by the next super curve ball "Breathing" by Kate Bush.

How dare we enjoy music that deals with the tragic? Well do your homework and read about the origins of Greek theater, especially Aristotle's "Ars Poetica" and learn about catharsis.

As a workaholic dork who loves art and history this ambiguous condition of humankind´s dual nature is subject to a lot of debate and there are no clear answers. Only personal decisions one takes on how to fucking deal with life because it is not fair. So what? Deal with it.

Damn, this is almost an essay. (I shall spare you the Montaigne of this mountain peak of issues.)

Time for a joke: when is something properly Metal?

    When it rusts...

All modern militaries are based upon the platoon tactics pioneered by the German stormtroopers at the end of WWI...

Vets who love metal love Iron Maiden and Bolt Thrower just like everyone else who loves metal.
Metal is Dionysian music but not dance music. It is not meant to be danced to. You just don’t like metal.

    LOL SLIPKNOT yeah no

Edit2. To make it obvious Culf war for example.

Actually, it is not obvious, but it seems that the war machine advances symetrically and all technologigal phenomen are considered. I am going to read more about this subject in the future.

All this banter and no Metal. At least be a "trooper." I guess this is the outcome for both of you. You need a soundtrack.

That is the case, but everything succesful German was used later in USA, not that it is a big surprise to anyone.. Winner takes the honours.

Adding this for the record. Moralizing history quite difficul task but, i wish we took something good with the lessons. That is why i find certain topics in musical lyrics absurd.

Children will be homeless in the future too.. sadly. This is no reason for added hate and revenge, which greats more hate.

We are all human and tempted to love and hate.

Music should be a vessel for good, imo. Anger is part of that sometimes.
