Thinking of spending some time and going back to doing some music production (Mainly R&B / Hiphop & EDM/Trap. Plus i'm a singer /songwriter so need some recording). Sold my previous pro gear years back before i got into hi-fi audio gear. (used to have dynaudio BM5A monitors fed from a Presonus central station.) Nowadays i'm listening to music with my Theta Progeny Dac > EC super 7 > HD 650. I imagine though this sounds great its probably far from neutral for me to make music with though.

Would love to hear what people are using for those of you who are into / in the business of music production!

I'm thinking of the following setup:

    • Getting started system - Macbook Pro > Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 * > HD650 w/ Sonarworks calibration
    • Pro audio / Hifi system - Gungnir Multibit > XLR > Mackie MR8 Active Monitors for pro mixing / producing ** | RCA out > Super 7 for Hifi listening

    * I'm thinking i need an audio interface as opposed to using a DAC? And also getting one of these since it has SPDIF out which i could use to connect to a DAC if i want.

** Going back to a powered nearfield studio monitor & skipping the amp for production environments. Not sure how i would set up the sub in this instance tho with the Gungnir Multibit. Open to suggestions for good Nearfield monitors or even powered speakers + amp setup

Basically i would buy: Focurite 6i6 for the Audio Interface, Sonar works to calibrate the HD650, Gungnir Multibit for the DAC, and Mackie MR8 for the Monitors.

We should have a separate subforum for this really. I have a lot of ideas and experiments I want to run once I get more into recording and production.

thanks @Madaboutaudio ! great resource. @OJneg yeah it would be awesome to have a separate sub forum. it does seem like quite a few members are fairly into pro-audio / music creation
