I'd like this to be a thread that curates great work music. While people's musical tastes for general listening vary to extremes, I suspect there's less variance in music we work by. By work I don't mean something mindless where you can listen to anything, but work you need to be able to command your attention for.

For me, work music should a) be able to slip into the background as needed, b) stand up to close listening as needed and c) based on a), be wordless.

HQ complete youtube albums preferred. I'll start.

Comeon, others have to have a work playlist too.

Nothing specific but I like shoegazer type stuff for concentrating. Spiritualized or Slowdive stuff like that.

The music I work to varies a ton. A few years ago I designed an entire zone in WoW listening to folk metal and similar music (major quest lines, side quest lines, bonus objectives, vignettes, and treasures... all listening to one main genre). That yields a wildly different result from a dubstep quest line, classical campaign, classic rock world quests, or acoustic guitar vignettes. I usually stick to a particular genre while working on related content, then switch genres when I'm going to work on something that is intentionally different.

Currently back and forth between a variety of industrial rock and European metal.

It's an end of day "playlist" for when everyone else has left.

I got in trouble for blasting Lil Jon's 'Snap Yo Fingers' at over 100 db in a manufacturing control room once upon a time.

One of my favorite albums of all time. I listen to it while driving and working. Mande Variations is a good one too.

I must have silence to work. I absolutely cannot listen to music and get anything done at the same time. The music grabs focus.
