Native DSD DAC - Schiit Modi 2

I see a lot of DACs promote that they are DSD native as a selling point. I cannot find anywhere where Schiit says the Modi 2 non MB can handle DSD on chip. Yet the AKM AK4490 specs say it does. So, is the Modi 2 DSD native?

Jason has stated specifically before that no DAC they build will have DSD support.

The reasons why for no-native DSD was because it is pretty impossible to optimize for both formats because of filtering, etc. So Jason decided to make a DSD only one that could be optimized for DSD, and thus was the Loki. It slumped in sales and was discontinued. You can read about it in Jason's on going book/blog thread on HF.

 

Just a tip, try to find an existing thread about the topic your interested in, rather than starting your own.

As @rtaylor76 said, you won't see DSD in a Schiit DAC. They've already been there, done that, in the original Loki product, and believe it's mostly a pointless format.

The only way to get DSD Schiit is to find a used Loki (make sure it's not the new Loki 4 band equalizer).
