A company called norml did something similar, which apparently failed as they've shifted their product line.

While a very well done single BA can sound great, I really doubt a cheap version is going to cut it with Beats and skullcandy listeners. I'm always happy to be proven wrong by a well-done product that surpasses expectations, so please let us know how it is.

the whole "using a standardized point of reference to measure via cell phone" thing seems to work well for estimating pupillary distance on Warby Parker when you get glasses, but I'm kinda skeptical in this case because they're attempting to do a lot more than measure just the distance between two dots here. Getting an accurate 3D model from a 2D image is tricky imo

I only have one data point and that is a single BA IEM that Alex Zaets (of PMx2 fame) did and it sounded phenomenal...

Theres always a problem for me when it comes to custom earphones - my ears ((the exterior parts) keep changing the more I train grapping and brazilian jiu jitsu. Its sad but I can never think of getting anything custom because 3-6 months later I'd need a refit. I now train with earguards but theres still a chance things change and I find a new cauliflower forming :/

But also, I have a data point of one - the CA Orion. Single BA or not, its really good and its really the sound i was looking for so its possible these kickstarter ones could be alright, if they do things right
