I have to say that I think google has done a great job on the phone market and is really showing companies like Apple, Samsung, and HTC that phones are not as expensive as what most companies are charging.

The 6p is pretty awesome. I've been using it for a few weeks now. It feels MUCH better in hand than the original Nexus 6, my battery life is way better, and the camera quality is significantly improved. I know L drove a lot of people from Android, but I suspect M is going to bring them back. There's been a huge focus on quality of life improvements rather than bombarding you with features. Battery life is much improved, the volume button actions are sensible again, and there are just little touches of polish on the apps we've updated. Even camera is laid out in a much more sensible way.

The black bar on top of the 6P makes no sense and doesn't fit the design though.

Confirmed by Google employee the panel in 6P is up to date. If I didn't get the Nexus 6 I would buy the f'ing 6P in a heart beat, it is so tempting...
Bought an iPhone6s for my mom because she obviously couldn't handle Android, the 4.7" screen is pathetic and the 6s plus is as gigantic as my Nexus 6, even though the iPhone hardware is top notch and much more consistent, but I still couldn't understand why so many people buying these things like crazy.

That bar is alright for me, they need that for NFC and antenna or whatnot. The hump might be a problem though, I would guess the edge may show some wear after a while for black version.

You know how the original Nexus 6 feels awkward in hand? The 6p just feels right. Everything about the layout feels purposeful. The fingerprint scanner location is f'ing perfect, you can literally unlock ad you're picking up the device. Ambient display is improved and more useful than ever. NFC is in the right place and I've never had to move the phone around to get it to scan with Android Pay. I never block the speakers when holding the phone to play games (almost every phone fails this test for me). The phone just is awesome in real world use.

I've used mine for weeks, tossed it in my bag, in my pockets with other stuff, and was just using it like a normal person would. I didn't have any problems with the front or the rear glass. Gorilla Glass 4 is pretty awesome.

Yeah, the biggest problem for N6 is the back is so damn slippery, I don't feel very awkward holding it but guess that's because I am used to it, 6P is definitely better because it is narrower. I don't really use android pay though, I am more comfortable with my credit card and I run custom rom for my N6.
f**k it, the 6P shipping wait line now ends at November anyway, probably pick up a used 6P early next year if I am sick of the shitty screen in N6.

I'd consider getting N5X if I didn't already own the original 5. But N5X doesn't have more RAM and it's bigger, which I don't want. (My hands stopped growing ages ago.)

There's practically no size difference between iPhone 6's 4.7" screen and the original N5, once you take the soft keys into account. If Apple comes out with an iPhone 7 mini, I'll switch even though I much prefer stock Android to iOS.

I'm really interested in the 5x, the 6p is just too big for me, although the battery is not thaaat big, let's see.

@zerodeefex , since you're here... I think I have a common question, any reason to have that camera "bump", instead of making the device a little thicker to add a slightly bigger battery and remove the bump?

I was thrilled when these were announced. Cameras look much better than "alright," and while I have liked L, I have been longing for the true permission controls that M gives. I am REALLY attracted to everything about the 5X but a little let down by 32g max storage and 2g ram. The size is perfect.

@zerodeefex do you have any knowledge about the actual limitations of only 2g ram in the universe of M? I am not a spec whore, so if there is little real world difference, then I will pounce on the 5X. If I am jumping up to 5.7 screen, the moto x honestly looks more compelling for my daily needs (and will be way more usable for audio storage with the sd card slot).

They talked about this in the reddit AMA that Hiroshi and Dave Burke did. It was a mix of ergonomics and to maintain the thinness of the device which I suspect was part of the requirements of a premium device for the Nexus team. They wanted to stuff a bunch of things in there while keeping a really slim profile. If you don't wear old people jeans it fits in your pocket a bit better now, too.

Honestly, I haven't extensively used a device with 2GB of RAM with M. I've only really regularly used the original Nexus 6 and 6p. I do know that I generally see lower RAM usage in M than I did in L FWIW.

I honestly think you guys should go for 6P if you
    1. don't wear tight jeans
    2. don't text with single hand
    3. can squeeze out extra dollar

I am asian and I have small hands but now 5.7" phone makes perfect sense to me thanks to Nexus 6.

    1. I wear tight jeans. APC petit standards most of the time.
    2. I text with one hand

I f'ing love the 6p. Great phone. Huawei really knocked it out of the park on this one.

My issue is I type with two hands most of the time, but nearly always navigate with one. I have concerns in this regard. God damn you multitude of decent options, each with one or two very minor drawbacks!! Its enough to make someone pay twice as much to be in appleverse where the only option is size...

Just wait for a formal review of the 5x and choose then :).

Yeah I know that is what I will do, but waiting is such bitter sorrow.

It's less bitter than spending hundreds of dollars on an uninformed smartphone purchase only to find it was the wrong choice :)
