    Yeah, it's really not that hard to recognize the good posters from over there. Hope you're doing well.

    Wow that actually means a lot, didn't think people noticed my posts over there, as its mainly just in the help threads and occasionally in the main tabs. Hard when all the posts are just disappointment posts. I decided I needed to find another place that suits me more, as the mods over there decided to ban me for a month a couple weeks ago for no reason lol

    You were being helpful and they banned you? Sounds legit. I hate that sub.

    Unfortunately so. Gave advice to an individual that another Redditor didn't agree with so he said some choice words to me. I said he didn't know what he was talking about because he said in his post he didn't own them. Ended up getting banned along with the other for disturbing the peace. When inquired about why the ban, got told "If you can't figure out why then you shouldn't come back." Thought it was kinda rude, when I literally post about 25-30 posts in the help threads every day. So I decided not really worth my time to stay

    Noob here. I've been lurking for a while since I discovered you actually measure gear! I'm mostly here to observe, and bargain hunt. I've dabbled in the low end of the hi-fi market since the 1970s.

    Hello, Kras from France, I have been reading for some months.

    Quite happy my 2 chan setup (proac naim), not really interested in headphone (boo!) but plans to improve my portable setup soon (iPhone, CA Orion now).

    Salutations, have been lurking around for just over a year now.
    Originally from Canadia now in HK. Lucky to be able to audition the wealth of personal audio here.
    Mostly interested in headphones, but find that its usually to bloody hot and humid here, so have ended up procuring more and more portable gear.
    Hopefully would be able to contribute in a meaningful way sometime in the future.

    Lurker for over a year and half. Read tons of over recommendations, graphs, and threads concerning audio gear on SBAF. Started my journey two years ago with a humble Phillips X2 Fidelio and then branched out to the TH-X00, and finally ZMF’s Auteur.

    I listen to mostly Electronic music but now I’m venturing all different types of genres.

    Wanted to sign up and donate to give back to this board.

    Howdy from Texas! I've been lurking for a couple years now. Decided to join so I could watch threads easier and participate in meetups. Hopefully I can avoid making the mistake of buying something like an Alpha Prime again :S

    Current favorite headphone: HD-6XX
    Other headphones: Campfire Audio Vega, Mr Speakers Alpha Prime (whoops)

    Sources: NAD C510 -> Schiit Mjolnir 2, Emotiva DC-1 -> MD x Cavalli Liquid Carbon X

    P.S. The cowboy getup is a joke, I'm a city boy to core.

    Nice setup man, how would you say the Vega compares to the HD 6XX and any reason why the Vega isn't #1?

    Vega is a guilty pleasure headphone. It has good macrodynamics and speed, but the FR without EQ kills it for serious listening (so much freaking bass). The microdynamics and plankton on the 6xx blow the Vega out of the water. It's easier to listen to the HD6xx at low volumes compared to the Vega as well.

    I plan on modding my 6xx eventually, but I'm waiting for a meetup where I can listen to modded vs stock side by side.

    Greetings - from Australia!
    Glad the registrations have been temporarily opened as I've been looking forward to signing up. Some of the reviews and comparisons I've read here have been really useful in helping me choose which gear to purchase.

    I fell down the audio rabbit hole a few years back and within the last year I dipped my toe in the vinyl realm by purchasing a turntable - loving it.

    The most recent changes I made to my system were going from Elac Uni-fi UB5 speakers to Yamaha HS8s and from a Schiit Ragnarok to a Jotunheim. Plus I was using the PS Audio Sprout's phono preamp but am now using the Jotunheim's phono preamp.

    My gear:
    Turntable - Rega rp6 with exact cartridge
    Digital source - Fiio X3 (I bypass its DAC)
    DAC - Schiit modi multibit
    Amp - Schiit Jotunheim with phono module
    Headphones - HD600 and HD598
    Speakers - Yamaha HS8 active studio monitors incl HS8S sub.

    Greetings from northern Québec!
    I've been trying to learn a bit more about music... I am a photographer & videographer who happens to work with computers as well...

    My gear is a Hackintosh feeding basically FLACs / AIFFs via toslink to Schiit's DAC Bifrost and a Valhalla 2 that runs as head amp for a Grado GS1000i or as pre amp going to my old home theatre sony receiver and KEF q700 speakers.

    I also have this old equalizer ADC Sound Shaper ONE which I find handy to fine tune a bit the sound... even if we are not supposed to mess with it... hehehe

    Just started playing with and discovering tubes and I must confess I LOVE it! I am glad i tried it out!

    Cheers!

    Hello from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. I'm a new-audiophile. I have had tinnitus my entire life and would rate my hearing as "mediocre". I have recently discovered that listening to headphones are a temporary relief from the constant high pitched buzz.

    Being a gadget head with a tendency toward obsessive need to collect and "find the best," I dove head first into the world of DACs, amps, and cans. After a few thousand dollars and some therapeutic prescriptive drugs, I have my obsession under control. Now I'm looking to learn more about high end personal audio and see if I can develop an "ear". Coupled with my love of gadgets, innovation, design, and craftsmanship, I am currently in love with every aspect of headphone audiophilia.

    I am on a personal quest to choose three "rigs". One for home, one for the office, and one for bed -- all desktop, thank you, with only a few exceptions, the portable gear is too boxy and similar. I actually sleep better wearing a pair of IEMs or large over the ear headphones and listening to almost anything melodic. I tend towards the quirky and novel, but appreciate high quality gear that is right on the cusp of the law of diminishing returns.

    I hope to get an education here.

    Howdy from Erie, PA… the current Golden Snowglobe front-runner with almost 190” snow this season (snowed again today). I’m a happily married structural engineer with 2 kids (oldest is a freshman at Purdue, youngest is a junior in high school), that travels quite a bit for work.

    When I’m home and not listening to music, I’m usually working on my honey-do list, working in my workshop or playing with my photography. My limited free time is spent playing World of Tanks, binge-watching Marvel/DC shows on Netflix, and following my kids high school marching band around (I’ve been the band photographer for the last 7 yrs).

    I’ve enjoyed listening to music since the closing days of the 8-track, but have no musical talent myself. I got into headphones about 10 yrs ago when a change to an “open office” concept at work meant my speakers had to go. I listen to just about everything except country, EDM/trance and new rap/hip-hop. Primary work listens are Classical, jazz and R&B, while anything goes at home.

    I have a couple of different listening rigs (that I’ve been fiddling with ever since I started lurking here):
    • Home LR: FLAC -> Modi 1 -> Bottlehead Crack (currently rolling with a Winged C 6N13S & Westinghouse 12AU7) –> HD600 I’m going to be actively looking to upgrade this rig soon, but hope to hear a bunch of different DAC & Amp's beforehand... the next upgrade will be my end game.
    • Home Office: FLAC -> NAD D1050 -> MD LCX -> modded MD HE4xx
    • Work: FLAC -> EITR -> Mimby -> MD CTH (was a Vali 1) -> ZMF Eikon

    I recently picked up an HD6xx to see how it differs from the HD600 I already have, and because it seems like an inexpensive set of cans that I can “play with” from a mod standpoint.

    Finally, things I hope to learn here (and at meets):
    1. I know I can’t verbally describe what I hear, but hope to learn that skill.
    2. I hope to learn the nuances of measurements beyond FR.... the other graphs currently look like abstract art to me.
    ------edited for typo in headphone model number---------

    Greetings from Metro Atlanta. I have been listening seriously for headphones for about 10 years since I was in grad school. I have been lurking here for a while and appreciate the insights and measurements available here. I have sporadically used some of the other message boards at audio asylum, head-fi, audiogon etc.

    My set-ups are:
    Work: pioneer xdp-100 > Geek Pulse Fi > Massdrop CTH or Teac HA-501 > HE560 or HD580
    Home: pioneer xdp-100 > Apogee Minidac > sometimes an old Morgan Jones-style diy OTL amp that was built by Digi01

    I prefer speakers, but have 2 small children, so I have spending a lot of time with headphones lately. I will probably still mostly lurk over here, but will contribute where I can. I don't have golden ears or anything so I am not sure how much my opinions are worth. I used to be in crappy bands about 20 years, but don't consider myself a musician. Lookng forward to participating when I can.
