    Hello!
My buddy who is a “friend” of the Forum really opened my eyes to HiFi. Was about to pull the trigger on some BeyerDynamics since they were on sale. (I am a Video Editor by trade so I don’t know what I don’t know) but he explained the pros and cons of them, how frequency response works and that intangibles are so important. 3 weeks later. I upgraded my Modi 2 to Modius. Trying out Verums and Clears. Demoing the Cavalli Tube Hybrid and THX 789 Balanced. Truly been blown away. Last night I found my self doing the “just one more song before bed” he warned me about. It’s been wonderful and I look forward to learning more!

Edit: I am coming from Sony 7506 and senny 598s via a Yamaha mg06 mixer and the Modi 2 that I got from a friend some time ago.

    Ahoy there!

Thanks for having me. I'm an old guy who really loves music, mostly Fusion and classic rock. Just moved up to the FOCAL Clear so I had to hear her balanced! I ordered the Joty yesterday, along with the Modius, will be here Friday, can't wait :)

    Hi there!

I have been down this rabbit hole since 2015. My equipment shows up in my profile.
I mostly listen to Synthwave on my VCs + CMA400i these days. I also like to listen to vinyl on the stereo.
I began by chasing detail and clarity, which led me to Stax. But now I much prefer a thicker sound with more body and impact and I feel right at home with the ZMF house sound.

I work as a Maths and English teacher in middle school, ages 10-12.

I have been lurking for a while and look forward to talk to you guys more.

    Hey there,

Longtime lurker here so I figured I should probably introduce myself. Current events have forced a soft switch to headphones and since making the switch, I’ve fallen face first down the rabbit hole.

My current stable includes Arya, Auteur, LCD2.2 pre-fazor, Ether CX, and a Verite on the way. I’m still trying to nail down where my preferences land.

I think like a lot of newcomers to headphones I went straight for the THX amp, and while it’s serviceable, I’ve been enjoying it less and less. Tube amps have dominated my listening time more and more.

Despite being impulsive, I’m very research driven and hoping to nail down my next amp or dac (T4 seems really interesting).

    H all!

Zesnake here, South African newbie regarding audio!

I needed some headset setup advice and i decided to go from lurker to an actual person :)

    I've been a Sennheiser fan since i was younger, moving from the HD205 > Massdrop 58X Jubilee > HD700 > HD800.

My AMP/DAC setup went from the Cyrus Soundkey > Xduoo XD-05 (Burson v5i Opamp installed) > Topping D50s + Magni 3+

Im looking to invest in an AMP upgrade for the HD800... And i figured this site would be the best place to start with regards to advice :)

Greetings to all from denp10 - I feel like my midlife crisis/personal family circumstances are inviting me to re-discover today's audio trends, products; I have been in this hobby for over 20 years, however, I feel like I need to polish my headphone & headphone amp setups for my solo listening sessions.

I have had a huge variety of products over the years; currently riding with:

Abbas Audio 2.2SE DAC > Audixun WE2688 preamp > Tatic Audio 801A/10Y monoblocks > Zu Audio speakers
    and
    Abbas Audio 2.2SE DAC > SMSL SP200 > Denon AH-D7200

Look forward to my re-discovery experiences

    Hello all.
I've been crazy about music all my life and improving the sound went along with that. I had my first pair of Maggies at age 19, for better or for worse! I found this place following a link on the Schiit website to a review here of the the Bifrost 2. I've spent the last couple of months reading through many deep discussions here, as I enjoy reading about the gear, but it's really a means to an end, that is, enjoying the music. I've always had audio gear of increasing goodness but I got serious about headphones in 2006 when I got my first portable amp and have since progressed steadily upward. I've been enjoying my current rig for about 5 years and while it's not end-game, I've been well satisfied, and not into chasing the latest and greatest. For the time being, almost is good enough. I'm always aware something could probably be a little bit better, a little more there there. In that spirit I got a Bifrost 2 to see if that spices things up. So far I'm loving it.

I've especially enjoyed looking at what everone is listening to, as I am always eager to find something new and interesting. I specialize in artists you've never heard of, lol. Hopefully I can contribute a little bit in that area.

I have met at least one person here IRL, AllanMarcus who I met at a HF meet a few years back in Albuquerque. I remember he had a cable he had made and I thought it was beautiful. That was the first time I got to hear the Koss 'stats and the HD800. I hope we can soon get back to having meets again.

    Hi friends,

John Zorn fan from New Zealand here. I still have to look up acronyms quite a bit when reading here but I live to learn. I am now in the position where I can finally invest in much better equipment for indulging in music so I've been reading a lot and came across this forum and have found it to be very good value.

Welcome! What’s up with the avatar? Is that like some kind of variation on Pepe the Frog? Weird that you would have that AND like John Zorn. You should head over to the Jazz Nuts thread, we talked about Zorn a bit.

I wonder if @Ambugaton knows he likes a very Jewish jazz musician. I assume he is trolling but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Either way check the IP @purr1n, it may be coming from Austin.

If it is indeed coming from NZ, I'll speak on behalf of the locals to say they might not get the full significance of the Pepe thing. Whether they get the SBAF significance will depend on how long they've lurked.

There are more variations of Pepe the Frog than exist in all of classical music, so while I'll admit that the avatar brought a specific someone to mind for me as well I largely agree with Biodegraded that there are people who don't necessarily associate the sad frog meme with the alt-right idiocy most Americans seem to know it through.

But yeah, if it is the less-interesting Kaepernick then... eh.

The sad thing about Pepe was the origins was a lighthearted comic that was not even political. The interent, already inventing something quite scary.
