Hello everyone, nice to meet all of you. I've been in this hobby since 2016. It's been an interesting hobby, especially with me living in Indonesia. Most stuffs are hard to get, even things like headphone cables, because the hobby is not that common here. I'm looking forward to participate more in this forum. Cheers y'all!

Hey everyone, greetings from Argentina! An IT Engineer with some background on electronics and mechanical engineering here :)

I consider myself really new to this whole hi-end audio world. I mean, I have always loved audio and started trying headphones a long time ago when I bought with my first pair of Senns and never stopped upgrading ever since but... I really got into it when I happened to run into an audio store in Spain by chance, and got to try the HD800's for the first time.

Long time after that I finally ended up buying my own HD800s and my first tube amp (LD MK IV SE) for which I also got me a few tubes to roll, but I guess life and work had other plans for me as they ended up sucking most of my time away.

Anyway, years have passed and just about a month ago I decided to get back and give my HD800s an upgraded headphones amp and probably a decent DAC later on when my wallet recovers from the hit. I haven't made my mind yet on what to get but I ended up on your forums pursuing some feedback on the Oblivion and Citadel, when I guess I realized there's a LOT to learn!

Thanks for this forum, for all of your contributions, and for the opportunity to be a part of it.

    Howdy, all.

I first got into this hobby nearly 10 years ago, but had to set it aside when life got busy and budget a bit tight.

Now I'm back at it and I'm deeper than I was before, haha. I've lurked a bit and gotten a lot of helpful information during my researches. Figured it was time to finally say hi, so hi!

    Hi audio friends,

I am just getting into this myself but have always appreciated high-quality audio when exposed to it from friends (whatever that subjective experience was). I was recommended to check this site out by a friend who frequents it. Looking forward to reading and learning from the breadth of knowledge here.

I believe @Zampotech is still taking orders for new SW51+ amps for the 4th batch of builds. I placed my order with him about 10 days ago.

    Dear All,

Hi from Singapore. Have been a member of the club here for some time now and have been trying to learn from the forums and discussions.

About my musical preferences, I listen mostly to Hindi / Punjabi music from India (mostly Bollywood and Pop/Sufi). For those who are not aware, that means vocals in all songs and wide range of music - classical, rap, sufi, jazz, hip hop, electronica etc.

I seem to have become an audiophile by accident triggered by my search for a can 3 years ago when i was looking for a wireless headphone to make my journey to and from office more enjoyable (in addition to zoning out at work when i don't need any interruptions). While searching for 'the best', i had shortlisted down to Bose QC II and Sony XM3s.....

And then i stumbled on google link for the 'best phone you can buy for $200' - HD6XX. So i read more about it and went to local headphone store to audition HD650.......few Eureka moments later.......i had gotten myself into the hobby... :)
I completely dropped the plan for wireless cans and immediately ordered the HD6XX, have been quite happy running it from LG flagship phones (currently have V50 ThinQ). For the office journey, i ended up getting the Ex800st/MDR 7550 earphones.

After i got into the hobby, i used to end up in big electronics store in Tokyo during my work trips (pre COVID). Thats how i heard Stax. They have something different in their presentation which immediately made me fall in love with them. The volume can just go up and up and up without any fatigue/harshness. :)

But i am not a long session listener and also not a big spender. So i usually end us buying gear used, over time and with patience.

More recently looking for a DAC (apart from the IFI Zen) to feed into Stax and a potential desktop amp for HD6XX.

Looking to continue the quest for audio nivana with abundant knowledge here and fruitfully participating in forums.

    Cheers!

    Hi all,

I started in the audio hobby around 20 years ago, since I purchased my first pair of Sennheiser headphones in order to use my pc (napster era), since speakers were too noisy during the night. At some point in 2004 or 2005 I upgraded to a HD650s and I have been using them until this year, when my wife suggested that I could get a new ones and I got myself a pair of HD800s. For the upcoming years I am looking for upgrading the DAC/AMP, as I have been using a modest one from 2010 (Audinst hud-mx1).

Also I have had a bunch of IEMs for commuting or work at the office, mainly Sennheiser models (CX series), a pair of Hifiman RE-400 and currently a Sennheiser IE80. For IEMs I have valued durability more than sound quality tho, I picked the IE80 because I could change the cable, which I have done once already.

I found this comunity a few months ago, when I started looking for new headphones, and so far has been super useful to learn about the current trends on this hobby, so thank you all for your contributions.

    Cheers.

Hello all, just joined this fun group. I'm from So Cal, interested in all things audio, especially Baroque classical. I started getting serious with headphones a few years ago but more into stereo speakers these days.

Just joined the Patron as well (jaylat) so I can join in the loaner programs.

    Cheers,

    Hi All,

Finally cracked the code to finish my registration. I thought I understood the wonderful world of audio and feel good about my 2.1 setup, recently been enjoying the world of headphones and become an addict. Look forward to the conversations, and learning.

    Take care

Hi everyone, great to finally be signed up on here after lurking for a few months.

I've been slowly getting into the hifi hobby after upgrading different parts of my home-office setup. I was blown away by my first pair of Sundaras and unable to shake my curiosity of ZMFs, took the plunge recently on the Aeolus, using my modest Liquid Spark amp. Having had a childhood centered on music, I can't tell you how reinvigorating it has been to discover hifi after using a pair of Sony MDR V6s for the last 15 years.

Now, I've been mostly using this forum to learn more about tube amps and DACs. Any suggestions welcome (currently eyeing the Gustard X16 and BH Crackatwoa)! I'm very experienced in rabbit-hole hobbies (currently work with a mechanical keyboard company) so I know that going straight to 'great' gear is better for my sanity. I'm in love with the Aeolus and know I'll pick up Verite Opens at some point in the future.

    Cheers all, happy listening.

    Hello all....

Been into the hobby since about 2017 or so and have been through a slew of Schitt and chi-fi. Currently settled on the Jot 2/Bifrost 2/Gungnir Multibit. Just remember, the journey costs alot of dough, but in the end, you got yourself a loaf of bread.) OR something...Cheers! Introductions and all that..

    Hey I'm Stereo Skunk.

I like headphones. I think headphone measurements nowadays fail to capture the nonlinearities that may explain the difference in experience among us, including why DACs, or even cables can sound subtly different, even when THD+N measurements alone make the differences seem inaudible.

Currently listening through QA361 > Qutest > HPA-1 > Utopia and pretty pleased with it.

Can you add some info about your audio likes/dislikes, gear tried, etc? The purpose of asking everyone to do an intro post is to have some understanding of your audio preferences.

I've been into audio since 1980 in Korea. We would have speaker wars to see who had the loudest stereo in the barracks. I'm not sure if I ever won the loudest stereo. But with my Klipsch Heresy and my roommate's Yamaha and Nakamichi Electronics I think we had the best sounding room. Now a days I am retired and getting back into this. Been lurking around for along time --hear---. Not into headphones but I did just buy a Bifrost II to replace a dragonfly 1.2 playing through a Rogue Sphinx II and Listening with some Kef ls50 sitting my desk. Anyways... Hello all ! Thanks for all of the entertaining reading in the past and hopefully the future.

I've cycled through more gear than I would care to admit, though have been enjoying the humble B&W P7 wireless for a couple of years now. Incoming speaker rig consists of digital-transport -> Schiit Modius -> JBL LSR305 studio monitors. My focus is more on music than gear and my tastes are quite wide indeed, ranging from music of the middle ages to some prog metal.
