Hi, This is my second post on this forum. I was asked by @dasman66 to introduce myself.

I am an old man from the era when phonograph records ruled the earth. I found this forum while trying to learn more about streaming audio (from a local hard disk as well as from the internet). I have absolutely no knowledge about computers or software so I understand it is going to be a steep learning curve.

I don't know how many of you remember these products but my first audio system consisted of a Garrad turntable, Fisher TX100 amp and AR 2ax speakers. By the early 70s, I was DIYing amplifiers and speakers. I stopped in the mid-90s as I got old and carrying 30kg power amps and 60kg speakers got tiring.

Hi from sunny Florida. Found the forum searching for audio classifieds. Seems like a pretty cool place. I love all things audio and the pursuit of quality sound, whether in music or movies. My father was a musician who passed on a love of records, turntables and simple engineering. As a result, I love to watch the wax spin as much as I like to listen. Cheers!

Hi there! I am Andrey from Moscow, Russia. That's my first post here. Actually, previously, I've been quite active reader of SBAF, preferring to write only on Russian local forums being a senior member there. But the will of trying to become a valuable member somewhere outside of "local junkyard" has come :)

I'm a university lecturer of Philosophy and Religious studies and also a private tutor of Social science and History. I'm fond of both portable and desktop audio. Speaking of portable rig, I'm a fan of DD-based IEMs and consequently therefore, DAPs with quite high output power. Here's my current setup:

    portable: Astell&Kern AK380Cu & AK380 AMP Copper, Radsone EarStudio ES100 MK2 + JVC HA-FW10000 (sboch Ag/Au), Perfect Seal Deca (sboch Ag/Au).

    desktop: AK380Cu -> Chord C-lite -> EAD Theatermaster Classic -> Monster Cable Z200i (XLR-XLR) -> Shoker AMP V2.6 (custom) -> Kennerton Wodan V2.

Hello SBAF, I've been a long-time lurker. I wasn't aware of Changstar because I didn't evolve into listening primarily to headphones until 2016ish, but I've lurking here since.

I got into hi-fi because of my dad. He had a subscription to Stereo Review well before I was self-aware. I was into whatever cheap two-channel stuff I could afford as a kid, and that evolved into me getting into the deep end of car audio when I started driving.

Ultimately I got back into two-channel stuff, but that isn't so useful when your significant other isn't into what you're listening to or wants to watch TV. Headphones and IEMs to the rescue.

I'm hoping I can make a meaningful contribution to the community, or at least continue to lurk and learn.

Hi my name is Dimitris I'm from Athens Greece and I'm 45yrs old and despite having many years in the process of acquiring vinyls, cds and being an avid music fan, it was only recently that my passion for hifi sound has re surfaced.
After many years with basic equipment such as a pair of Edifier S550 5.1 speakers and an X-Fi sound card in my PC and a head/phono amp, the bug of better sound reproduction and equipment has caught up with me.
My system comprises of some schiity equipment as well.. :)
I have a pair of Focal Solo 6 Be and an SVS SB2000Pro as my stereo system and a Bifrost 2 dac hooked up to my recently acquired Freya+ .
I also have a Valhalla 2 and two pair of headphones (DT 1990Pro and Sennheiser HD600).
No need for an amp since my speakers are active. At least not for the time being that is :D
I know how this will eventually this will be played.. Will see how it goes and take it from there :)

Hi, I’m Stu, and I like warm DACs.

Calgary, Canada based, I have an LXmini DIY setup for speakers, though I was an old Klipsch reference fan for 25 years. I recently have fallen down the headphone rabbit hole again - originally 20 years ago with Sennheisers and resumed the hobby in 2020 after a 10 year break.

Progression from Koss PortaPros in the 80s as a kid, to Sennheiser HD600 as my first intro to good headphones 20 years who (stolen) -> ATH M50 (cheap out bass head phase) -> Beyer T70p (so good! But also stolen - I travelled a lot) -> More recently, ATH R70x (love but gave them to my wife) -> Sundara (love) -> LCD-XC (with the new drivers!) + Focal Clear (getting one of the final lot of OGs this summer).

JDS labs atom stack, upgrading to Schiit Jot 2 & Bifrost 2.

On the IEM side I had Shure E5 for many years, then various Sony cheapies, Powerbeats Pro, and recently have Moondrop Blessing 2 Dusks and AirPod Pros. Wireless, I’ve had Bose QC 35 II, Beats Studio 3, AirPod Max, and the Moondrop Littleblack Bluetooth for IEMs - I’m sticking with the Bose and Littleblack and sold the Beats and Airpod Max. No shame in owning the various Beats, they were adequate, they were also while I wasn’t in the hobby.

Otherwise I work at a large tech company from home, am a cat guy, and a Porsche 911 owner/fan.

Hey guys. I'm Ramesh from India. Without going into my life's story. My Audiophile journey started 13 years ago with the hd650 and a dac/Amp that was gifted me. Since then it's been the 600/650/800S as my dd hps and Yamaha hp1 and verum for a planar flavor. A nice 2a3 Amp for my dds and the sapphire ss Amp for my planars.

Thanks for looking. May the music keep ur days bright. Cheers!!

Hi, I'm Ronion. I was once in Audiophilia Recovery but have recently fallen off the bandwagon thanks in part to SBAF. I read that the JVC FX1 were tuned by members here so I figured I should check this place out. They are actually my favorite 'headphones' at the moment. For over a decade my HD650 took that prize and I still love them, but they are now in second place. The bass is just better on the FX1 and strangely so is the imaging. Yeah, write me off as an idiot right now, but I'm not wrong. I have devised my own parametric EQ to make that happen. Okay, so that's 2 strikes against me. Well, I'm accustomed to striking out on the first date so I'm just going to go on and say it: You don't need anything better. It gets you there and you can walk your dog while wearing them--through the mountains no less. You need something better, you likely have very unusual, deformed ears! (just kidding). I do seriously love these IEMs. Great job. I appreciate it.

    Hello ,
I am Soumya from India. An avid Indian Classical Music lover at heart who in recent years began exploring how deep a rabbit hole audiophilia is. My earliest love for music gears were Sony Walkmans from my high school days - collected a lot of them actually.
Fast forward to now, I like the convenience of digital audio, just trying to make it as much enjoyable as possible by extracting every ounce of performance from my setup where ever I can and to the extent my wallet can afford ;)

Look forward to making some cool and like minded friends here.
    Cheers!

    Howdy folks!

I'm Beefy, an old-ish Head-Fier and Head-Caser who has been in the wilderness for over 9 years now. During a deep COVID WFH funk, I had a big reorganisation of my work and play spaces. This has involved dusting off and reassessing a whole heap of my old headphone gear, and just casually trying to get up-to-speed with the state of the hobby. I was my strict intention not to go balls-deep. But I failed miserably at that on account of my addictive/obsessive personality, and the hobby changing just so damn much in the last decade.

So after a short lurker period, here I am, registered on SBAF, how incredibly shameful. I remember a lot of people I've seen on SBAF from my Head-Fi days, particularly DIY folks including @dBel84, @Armaegis, and @fishski13, but a whole heap of other names are really familiar with positive recollections, so hopefully I'll fit in here better than I did at other forums!

My gear is all the best hits of DIY and Mid-Fi from 2007-2012
Sources: TPA Buffalo DAC (original 9008), AMB y2 DAC
Amps: AMB M3, Bottlehead Crack, Cavalli Exstata
    Phones: HD650, DT1350, AD900, Stax SR-Lambda (1970's normal bias)

My goal here is really is still just to get up to speed with the hobby. Maybe upgrade my DIY gear, maybe an entirely new DIY project or two, maybe some headphone updates. Maybe I'll stay around, maybe I'll disappear, maybe I'll get banned for being a jackass......

    Cheers!

Has the past year been kind to anyone? I mean, if nothing else, just how badly does Pallister suck?

Hi I'm Daniel. This is my first post on sbaf. I was told to introduce myself by tommytakis on discord. I mainly talk about audio on discord since I prefer that format, but I'm open to other kinds of interaction like this forum as well. I've been into audio for several years now, but I've only really gotten into higher end equipment in the past year or so. I have a pair of TH-900s that I love for their awesome bass, and I also have a pair of HD 6XXs paired with either the SW51 amp or my gilmore mk 2 lite. I'm very excited to try out the ESX900 soon, and give my impressions :)

Hi I am Justin. I was instructed to introduce myself by @YMA so here I am. I am relatively new to the hobby of headphones and I also use Hifiguides and Head-Fi occasionally (I know about what Jude did to NwAvGuy and I know about the snakeoil stuff promoted on Head-Fi). My setup right now is low-mid fi and I will get into higher end gear in due course.

I stumbled across this forum through the thread about the Grado Hemp. I was impressed by how close the members seem to be to each other and how helpful they are. I was also happy to see that there is no "My gear is better than yours" type of atmosphere as seen on Head-Fi.

I will be more than willing to contribute and share my experiences about products to other users in the future. My favourite headphones are Koss Porta Pro believe it or not because I like the airy presentation and the warmth too. I think my next upgrade is likely going to be Hifiman Ananda/DCA Aeon 2 Open/Grado Hemp/GL2000/Monolith M1570/Grado Hemp

Thanks for reading! Please tolerate my questions as I am quite new and also my lack of political correctness

Hi guys, being in search for a new DAC solution and for opinion about various components I used to return again and again to SBAF. I appreciate the style and the non-fanatic approach cultivated here. Thanks. Looking forward to inspiring discussions.
