Thanks Josh, that was a really fun meet. I learned that I don't know what an HD800
sounds like even though I own one, nor do I know what it pairs with. Three different
modded HD800's sounded completely different from each other and paired differently
    with assorted amps.

Its also your fault that I had to get a blackwood. Thanks for that.

I look forward to another NE SBAF meet for sure.

Hey there, I'm Ed. I mainly listen to music at work through my Grado SR-60i headphones plugged directly into my laptop, but I've been daydreaming about putting together an HD-6x0 rig for months. So I'm here to do endless hours of research and lurking while I collect data while saving up.

When I'm home I prefer to listen to vinyl through speakers. At some point even further down the line I hope to upgrade my turntable setup, which currently consists of a Technics SL-1900 plugged into a NAD 7175 PE with Paradigm Mini-Mk3 bookshelf speakers.

    Hello all,

My name is Nicolas and I'm very happy to have found this forum. I used to own quite a few pieces of audio gear (Sony CD3000, HD600, Creek Audio head amp, Sony ES SACD player) but I had to sell them all because I was moving and changing jobs. Now I just have an O2/ODAC and a Fidelio X2.

My favorite music genre is classical and opera and I listen only on headphones.

    Nice to meet you all!

Hello, been lurking for a while and now decided to join and say hai! I mainly listen to anime ost/op/ed, jpop/kpop and vocaloid stuff. I don't use headphones as much these days, and looking to switch up to speakers in the future.

My setup: Th900, Focal Elear (on the way this week), 64 A12, and hp-a8 dac+amp.

    Hey everybody,

I came to this forum mostly to read about people's digital source setups--DACs in particular, though some posts have made me consider dinosaur CD players ;). I currently own (and have misplaced in storage) a pair of Grado Head-F1 wood/metal headphones but have only heard them through my computer's headphone out. I'm looking to get back into the hobby, and will likely be targeting a speaker setup first before hi-fi headphones. Short on cash, I have ordered Shure SRH840 monitoring headphones to tide me over until I can afford a reasonably-endgame-level (for me) setup.

I wanted to thank everyone for all their expensive comparisons and experiments with Mutecs, Lynxes, and RedNets paired with high-end DACs. I appreciate the attitude around here that is low-hype, evidence-based, and "peer-reviewed" via meet-ups. I never imagined I would be considering spending over $2000 on an audio interface + DAC combo for a set of speakers worth less than that!

My wish list includes a Lynx PCIe audio interface, Schiit Gungnir Multibit, homemade Anaview AMS0100 monoblocks, and KEF LS50s. I am interested, too, in 7.1+ surround sound for movies, but that is even further on the horizon.

I enjoy prog rock, post-hardcore, electronic music, and a little old-timey Beethoven and Bach (cello suites by Rostropovich). Some favorites include The Sound of Animals Fighting, Radiohead, and Com Truise.

I'm currently a college accounting student and a CNC machinist.

Hi everyone, been lurking here for a while and decided to make the jump to SBAF from reddit's r/headphones, where I've been active for a few years now under the same username -- it's good to see a lot of the same faces here. r/headphones has its place, but I've been enjoying the variety of discussions and atmosphere here and think it'll be a better fit for me going forward.

As for gear, the Focal Elear and Sennheiser HD800 are my main headphones -- they're being driven off a Schiit stack for the time being, until I figure out what source equipment to pair with the Elear. I also have the HD600, HE400i, B&O H6 and Valhalla 2 in my collection.

Looking forward to contributing here and thanks again for having me.

Hi all, finally I am typing a post here..

I am mainly an anime and doujin music fan, and view gear-related interests as extension of that part in persuit of even more enjoyable experience out of the materials mentioned.

My music journey so far has been like: some old Taiwan PC game OST -> Jap game OST -> Doujin -> Anime stuffs.

As for headphones, my first "audiophile" purchase was a Denon D2000. Then I moved on to a Sony Z1000 in a few months and stayed with it for 2~3yrs before getting HD800 and then (around 1.5yrs later) HD800S eventually. My setup can be found in profile here, or headfi one with more details.

Btw I think my listening level is on the low side, such that I listen at one step from mute with ZX2, UERM, and something like this song.

I don't like the white K701, so I keep a K702 Anniversary version. That counts for me..

    Thank you.
