Seems like the old thread was removed. Here is a new thread dedicated to musicians who brought us joy.

I'll start the new thread with Gary Brooker of the band Procol Harem. The singer-songwriter and pianist co-wrote and sang the band’s 1967 classic “A Whiter Shade of Pale”. He passed recently at 76 yrs.

I just saw this and felt very sad. I remember @earnmyturns recommending this a while back & I was immediately hooked. No cause of death given, gone so young.

    RIP David Longdon (1965 - 20 November 2021)

David was the front man, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist for contemporary British prog act, Big Big Train. He passed after a tragic accident at his home. Survived by his partner and two daughters.

I didn't have a chance to post this at the time of his passing, but this is left here as the anniversary of his death approaches in the hope that others will come to know and love his music.

Big Big Train - The Transit of Venus Across The Sun (from the 2016 album "Folklore")

"Set a course for the stars
Reaching out for the far things
    Taking flight to the distance
    Never meaning to return

    Low on the horizon
The setting of the evening star
The light that guides him home
    Is fading once again

Set a course for the stars
Reaching out for the far things
    Taking flight to the distance
    Never meaning to return

    So many words left unsaid
    So many deeds left undone
The transit of Venus across the Sun

    So many words left unsaid
    So many deeds left undone
So many tales without an end
The transit of Venus across the Sun"
