I would venture a guess that a Yggdrasil is on a test bench at Stereophile already.

You guys beat me to it. The old fart audiophiles are gonna be pissed. I can imagine the folks on AudioKarma or even ComputerAudiophile getting really pissed off.

How dare they deprive my 70-year-old ears of the 48KHz noises I could be picking up from my high res audio.

Yep, you'll be seeing (a little) more of us in the audiophile magazines. Stereophile has no Yggdrasil, but on their own initiative, they have asked for, and reviewed, three of our products--Bifrost, Mani, and SYS--so they're the logical place to start getting the DACs out in front of the more traditional audiophile crowd.

No idea how they'll take the message...but after years of hearing about higher and higher res, and higher and higher DSD multiples, and seeing the press eat it up like a chocolate sundae, I decided that someone needed to highlight the message of, "Yeah, and you do understand that means re-buying all your favorite music--again. Are you cool with that?"

So we decided to highlight it in the most positive way...that we are making DACs that are intended to make the most of the music you already love, rather than forcing the neurosis of re-buying everything again.

And that's exactly what it would be with SACD / DSD at 48kHz ... mostly noise, from the one-bit noise shaping.

I concur. I mean how cool would it be to have a Black tee-shirt or cap that said "Schiit Audio"

You're on to something there @Tuco1965

Your typical Stereophile reader: "What are THESE things? They don't even have displays on them! No DSD? Highest end product is ONLY $2300!? What is this Schitt!? *goes to order FOTM*"

Good choice of product to advertise IMO. I think the Schiit DACs hold the biggest appeal to the Stereophile crowd.

It would be great if a Yggdrasil could somehow make it's way into Atkinson's hands because it would go straight go "Class A" on their recommended DAC list and like it or not that thing drives a lot of gear choices.

Stereophile should be all over reviewing the Yggdrasil, given its price/performance ratio.

I think it would be so great to read John Atkinson's take on it, too. The measurements we've seen from AtomicBob show it is beyond reproach and I think John would be fascinated by the chips used. He has credibility across a wide range of audio enthusiasts.
The Computer Audiophile posted a really glowing review. Stereophile would be huge too.
I have a feeling Yggdrasil might be a little TOO good price : performance ratio to keep the peace with all of the big sponsors and advertisers. Then again, they occasionally claim "budget" or reasonably priced products as top of their class. Anyhow, if they get around to it, I don't see how they could have a negative review, especially given the praise heaped on the Mytek, Benchmark, Vega, etc.

I for one hope the advertising works. More sales means greater buying power, and less price increases hopefully...
