So the Mani had a silent revision that turned it from sounding like balls to rocking your balls. @purr1n said he’d talk about it more.

I haven’t heard it but depending on impressions from here I might grab one, lord knows the price is right.

Somebody else heard one and mentioned it was competitive with the RSA Nighhawk, which I agree, but different sound and presentation. I need to look up my notes to be exact, but off the top of my head, felt Mani to have a warmer more laid back presentation with a tad bit more extension at both ends of the spectrum. The RSA maintains a zippier transient response and marginally blacker background. Both are engaging - original Mani was somewhat congested, constipated, and a little flat - not so anymore. No idea when the latest Mani iteration came out.

Which one is better depends on component synergy. Mani at $129 is a no brainier for vinyl initiates, especially if paired with neutral or brighter AT carts, although I had good experience with full bodied Nagaoka cart on the prototype Schiit Sol. The RSA is a decent deal only when purchased used at $500 some. Both perform better with MC carts than MM. I still think TC-750 with Sola supply is better for MM, but that requires some DIY and electrocution risk.

Well this may cause me to pick up another one to see if I can tell the difference with my modest set up. I mean for a buck 29 it's definitely worth a shot.

I never found the dynamics to be great with my current setup and the Mani, but there is also no way I could attribute that issue to one component either so I sort of just let things be.

Is there a way to tell if the Mani is Rev one or original one? I sold my original one a couple of months ago and currently using Pro-Ject Phono Box S which is... worse. Hence, I was thinking to get another Mani and this is great timing to get rev one if it is already out. Do we just order new one and it will be Revised one?

Mani's now in an aluminum chassis (used to be steel only). Could be a hint also...

Edit: Also pretty sure it's been out of stock since that change.

Good point. I have not even noticed that when I saw photos. If I understood correctly, Gungnir Multibit silently revised one start serial number with B. Not sure if it is the case with Mani Rev...

Just placed my order for a Mani as well as a Sys. I noticed that Sys is also changed chassis to Aluminium.
@Scott Kramer Thanks for pointing it out the aluminium Chassis.

Just got in my new Mani an hour ago. My old mani went to upgrade my vintage setup (huge upgrade compared to one built into this phillips receiver).
So far I instantly noticed the bass quality is better. I swear the layering is better but that could be from listening to my other setup and then my main. Sorry, I’m not great at describing sound.
Overall I’m super happy. Minor upgrade for my main rig and a huge one for my vintage setup (aka my high school setup).

Does anyone have a link to the post with all the various gain settings to db table? I saw it a while back but can't seem to find it again. Thanks

Thanks, thought there was a post that showed the different combinations of the switches between gain 1 and gain 2, maybe I'm thinking of a different preamp.
