NOT: Theory on the new Schiit

I'm a little confused by the summary. Does the Gadget go between the transducer and the amp or after the transducer? And it is digital?

 

Only Schiit knows that answer. I have no idea of what it could be, but I think it will take advantage of things we may have instead of having to buy more of something else. Did that even make sense? I'm using redbook cd as an example.

 

A. Not literally (see Schiit (MultiBit) Bifrost #551 & #553).
B. It is digital.

 

Man I thought I had a pretty good idea of what it was until I heard after the transducer. My only thought right now would be some sort of feedback system.

 

It doesn't go after the transducer--that's not what I said. I said that (to me) it makes a bigger difference in overall sound quality than an amp, and less than a transducer.

Sorry for the cloak and dagger. But after Mike mentioned that something might be coming, I had to make sure everyone knew the DAC lineup was not in flux.

As far as when The Gadget might debut, don't start the heavy breathing just yet. Dave and I just had a fairly long discussion about the controls/indicators/presets/lack of presets/etc for The Gadget, so I haven't even drawn up a chassis for it yet...which means there is currently no timeline I can give for its introduction.

Finally. Schiit releases their own Headzone, killing Beyerdynamic's ancient Headzone with 100 Ohm output into the Abyss.

 

Ok, that was an impact on sound sequence, not audio chain. I got confused by the quote.

ehh, i really hope this gizmo lives up to the hype. Jason doesn't seem like the marketing fluff kinda guy but saying a bigger difference then an amp is a big deal especially if it is seen as a positive change. Still my skepticism is high, although, do to it being Schiit I am willing to listen...

Definitely sounds like a DSP, perhaps with custom filters and user switchable filters.

 

Something Phonitor-esque? But as a standalone product that one can use it with any amp/dac?

My theory is this is the super-mega-burrito filter to send it to NOS DACs? + Digital Volume Control + Digital EQ.

The thing is, EQ-ing in digital is bad, but maybe if you know how to make a super-mega-burrito filter, you know how to EQ and change volume in digital and not screw it up.

That device is an analog completion stage... Perhaps they have developed a digital solution?
