At a similar price point to the Aeron, I bought the Kinn from Autonomous about a year ago. It compares well to chairs at or above that $450 price point in terms of ergonomics, but isn't as polished feeling as the more expensive Herman Miller or Steelcase chairs. I prefer it to the Aerons that I've used for work; the flexible back and seat provide a more "even" support rather than a few primary points of contact, and it does better with me shifting posture throughout the day. I don't prefer it over an Herman Miller Embody, based on the chance I've had to try that out, but I do prefer the extra thousand bucks in my pocket.

    Edit: Imgur pics.

I would say ditch the gaming chair idea. E3 2017 I went and there were like half a dozen gaming chair companies and like one plain chair manufacturer. Of the half a dozen gaming chair companies, like 5 were all super similar and 1 was European and double the price but used real leather. I asked one of the gaming chair vendors what made his chair better than the other chair brands. He gave me the following response, "I can't say my chairs are better or worse than the other chairs here, but I can say my chairs are cheaper!"

I bought a chair from this man. It was nice in the beginning but it reeked of poor QC, loose threads and the pleather started peeling like a year in. Got an Aeron late last year brand new and it honestly works great for me and no regrets on it.

Realized afterwards though with everyone being WFH, there are a ton of liquidators with used Aerons on craiglist for like half of msrp if not more sometimes.

Good recs. Son wants the gaming chair. The Secret Labs stuff doesn't look ghey. Will look for an Aeron - mesh will be good for this climate.

Got it, had a cheap gaming chair from Staples at tsav, that thing was fairly flimsy. The Costco Respawn Gaming Chair basically looks like my old gaming chair and is cheaper than what I got it from from my E3 guy. I would cop it from Costco if I needed a gaming chair:

I have an Aeron, I love it. Got mine on Craigslist for $100, needed a new $20 lift and was great. Seat was a bit worn and got worse over time, but I just bought a new seat a few months ago for like $150 now it's good as new

Honestly, I don't know because I haven't purchased anything from them. When I was doing research on task chairs I saw many people purchasing from them and were happy customers. YMMV.

FWIW, I bought my home-office furniture with no budget restriction, and I ended up with Embody chairs.

Here in the Bay Area, well-funded startups go out of business so regularly that there's always a good selection of high-end used/liquidated furniture on Craigslist. You can easily find like-new Aerons for a few hundred dollars, or an Embody for under $700 if you wait for a good deal and don't mind black base and black fabric. That might not be true in CC, but maybe in Houston or Austin...

I had an Aeron for about 5 years and switched to the Embody and it’s quite a bit better. I’m fairly tall, about 6’5” so the longer adjustments did help but I much prefer it. Just seems more supportive in the right spots.

Absolutely love Miller Mirra 2 with mesh, forward tilt, adjustable arms. This can stay locked forward or upright with higher tension...OR...can be loosened and reclined in. More back support but still can breathe, wide upper back so it supports sitting at different angles. The lip of the front of the seat can also be adjusted to make the seat longer or shorter.

Best chair I have been in by far, really disliked lumbar support thing in Aeron.

We have a Mirra 1 and 2 in the house, both bought used in fantastic condition with the added options for $200-$300 used (each). Best pandemic investment. Mirra 1 is substantially heavier and harder to roll on carpet if that matters to you.

Bought an embody for grandma, who kept insisting she didn't need a fancy chair even though she's had constant back pain for decades and spends hours at the pc even though "I'm 82 and I don't know how to use computers".

Myself I need a headrest, and HM doesn't have a good chair with one. Not one that's comfortable if you're 193cm (6'4") tall anyway.

Im using a Secretlabs Titan in a delightfully non-gamery charcoal blue cloth finish.

Cushioning is on the stiffer side which I look for in both chairs and mattresses as too soft gives me back pain without failure.

Solid, not egregiously expensive, good lumbar, simple headrest pillow, made for taller folks, and the cloth has been holding up well to the rigours of lockdown.

Also I highly suggest STEALTHO casters from amazon usa; they use a single tall inline-skate type wheel and have really nice bearings and in a set of 5 there are 2 lockable which is handy for flight and space sims with my pedals.

I like my Steelcase Think (v1). I quickly tried out the Leap v2, Gesture and Please and also briefly sat on an Aeron and Embody. I like how bouncy and "fun" the Think is. Works well for rocking. The other Steelcase chairs feel stiff in comparison. The backrest is very flexible, a bit like the Embody, but as a traditional backrest. The seat pan works well for distributing weight for me, is decently breathable and allows sitting cross-legged. Plus over here there are many of them available for cheap.
Not very many adjustments so either it works or it doesn't. I have the seat pan depth set to the maximum and I'm not that tall.

Built some SB Acoustic ARAs not too long ago. Current chain for speakers are Singxer SU-6 -> Abbas DAC .1se -> Burson Funk. Currently waiting for an Elekit TU-8200R and CFA3. I have a shelf on my right that keeps all my audio gear and computer. I also use a Herman Miller Embody.

Got a new desk yesterday, spent more than two hours assembling that badboy, needless to say, my back hurts after the ordeal. It's an Omnidesk Pro 2020, I love that I can raise and lower the desk to suit height of my seat, I can even raise it so that I'd be standing. I can set it to preset heights and store it in its memory.....but most of all, I love all that extra desk space. I'd ordered a couple of headphone stands so that I can place two on the left, and one on the right. I'd gotten the 48" version (smallest available) and it's a pretty tight squeeze...

I got a new triple monitor setup in place, loving the look and extra real estate. My previous setup was 2 24" 1080p 144hz monitors side by side. The new stuff is 2 27" 2k 165hz monitors stacked and a vertical 32" 2k 75hz monitor. Added a couple of headphone hooks to the wall on the left as well.

You have a huge desk; I think working at such a desk would be uncomfortable. When I work, I try to concentrate only on my work, but it is quite difficult because I am often distracted. So when designing my workspace, I needed to do everything in a minimalist design. I found *spam link removed* it is a nice desk of a suitable size. In addition, I was attracted by the features the desk has. I can charge all my gadgets just by putting them on the desk.
