I haven't tried bypassing the cathode resistors because I saw some measurements on diyaudio - the unbypassed cathode resistors had distortion values similar to that of 'led biasing with ccs load' while the distortion was much higher with bypassed cathode resistor or with just the led biasing(like crack). Since I didn't think that I would need the higher gain provided by bypassing, I skipped the capacitor thing altogether.
I did compare the unbypassed cathode resistor with led biasing though and I preferred the unbypassed resistor (and that was even before I saw the measurements for led biasing).

A nice pair of GE JAN 5670, three-mica spacers, rectangular getters, manufactured in 1957, arrived today. These are additions to my existing small collection including Sylvania (some with gold pins), Western Electric, CBS/Hytron and Bendix. However, these tubes were procured during my Little Dot days and I have yet to roll any of these in the Glenn.

Anyway, I am pleased to report that at least one of them lights up and plays. :)

Nice pictures! A tripod sure makes the difference! :)

I can't see your 6N7G well enough to guess who really made it. Back in the day, Sears, Roebuck & Company marketed their line of radios, phonographs and even musical instruments under the Silvertone label.

Yes, I have a number of 5687. In my Little Dot days, I liked the Tung-Sol and Sylvania 5687 the best, but I haven't listened to a 5687 in a long time. With those same adapters, you can also roll E182CC/7119 and 7044. Out of all of these, I prefer the E182CC/7119. These were manufactured by Philips in their Heerlen, Holland, factory, until it closed, and then production was shifted to their Amperex factory in Long Island. I find both to be quite good.

I had an enormous amount of luck one day and managed to pick up this pair, Heerlen-made in 1958, pinched waist, for cheap :)

My inverted-V 5AW4s are labeled CBS/Hytron. However, I am inclined to believe that all inverted-Vs were manufactured by the same company, but have no idea which one.

I store my tubes in several chests of drawers in a spare bedroom. Here is the rectifier/power tubes drawer:

Very nice, Type 80's are beautiful, though usually not that bright. I've been trying to track down an Arcturus blue glass 80 to match my blue 26 globes for a preamp, but no luck so far.

Holy shit that's sexy. I'm definitely looking for a tube amp in the future so I'll be scouring this thread for a while. And damn. Sexy tubes.

Yep, the 6BK7 has the same pin-out as the 6DJ8, so it should work without adapters in your WA2. However, no telling how it will sound. :)

6AU6? Like the GE 8425A? In which amp are you going to use them?

In the Littledot ,anyways i dont think i can use them anywhere else . but will have some grinding to do to remove the driver rings like i did for the power tube rings. Dont have extenders but looks nicer with no extenders .
