As for the bread board thingy, pcb's are nice, but you don't really have to have one. The subwoofer originally had acceleration feedback and the feedback circuit was built just like the "bread board thingy".

 

Mine sits behind my CD transport and a couple of CD box sets. I stand it on end like this to make the boards vertical for cooling. I should probably move it to the floor to make the AES cable less strained at the connector.

This is the black case from Pi 2 Design. The original clear case cracked months ago from falling off the table, and I finally replaced it with a new case. I think it looks spiffy in black.
