Me and k4rstar have been contemplating a pair of speakers to get for our (eventual) joint music setup and we've settled on the Harbeth 30.2 for a multitude of reasons of which I will get into at a later date, perhaps once they have arrived and I've set them up.

I'm going to place the order for them tomorrow at my local dealer. Hopefully they arrive in 4 weeks, as opposed to the obligatory 12 weeks that I've been been told by every dealer due to "well the 30.2 has been getting rave reviews and is in very high demand and is very exclusive" bla bla bla...

I don't care about all the glowing reviews for them, what drew me to them was the wonderful wonderful house sound that Harbeth has. I first heard the 30.1 last year, it was the first pair of speakers I auditioned, actually, and that sole audition of which I was there for just 30 minutes or has constantly stuck out in my mind since then.

To my ears the 30.2 is audio sensory bliss, the midrange and top end is so sweet, life like, sparkly. I haven't heard anything else like it. ANYWAY, I'll try to keep you guys posted on any further updates. Here's hoping I get them sooner, rather then later.

PS. I sold my Cadenza speakers to a nice gentleman locally. He appreciated the fine craftsmanship of the woodwork and liked the sound. In case it needs to be said again, I'll repeat what I said earlier: I wound up needing to sell my beautiful horn speakers because they were just too big for my room. It was a fun learning experience, because the wonderful deep and powerful bass of the speakers was out of this world, but I just couldn't enjoy about 1/3 of my favourite songs. The smith horns were defracting all the sound off the walls and creating a jumbled and confused mess of vocals. I hope they have a much better home now, the man who purchased them from me said his listening room was 16x24, a much better space for them.

Thinking of something similar for my DIY builds so I can easily switch to active or DSP crossover. Heck, even if I stay completely passive it makes it easier to upgrade components.

ATC, Spendor, Legacy, Wilson, JBL, about 2-3 speakers from each of those companies. Can I just ask what about my previous post was unpleasant? edit. I thought casual discussion was fine here. Okay, I get it. I should have posted my stereo system update in a different thread.

Isn't this kind of obvious to the eye?

Ah, I get it. So I should only contribute to this thread when I've got pictures of my system.
I saw other people talking about crossovers and stuff, I didn't think it was a concern to just make a post about my future plans. I was excited to share my plans with you guys and maybe I got ahead of myself with the wordy post but I was actually going to deliver more pictures of the new speakers as soon as I got them.

Meh, whatever. I guess Im salty that I'm getting singled out with dislikes and no one else was. I was just trying my best to make meaningful contributions in every thread I post in.

Don't give a shit about dislikes -- problem solved.

Is the rest of your system remaining the same?

Ending up finding a pair of Tekton Pendragons locally. Eric is crazy, but this is a pretty fun sounding, easy to drive speaker. Gives up some speed/resolution/midrange purity on the lowther/oris, but has a much more even response in room, still quite dynamic, meaty, does depth better, and goes very low. Play's very nicely with my F7.

I recently converted from home theater to 2-channel with the purchase of the MMGi, so my electronics are a bit more oriented towards HT with plans to eventually change to a nicer DAC and amp. I would welcome amp suggestions via PM.

You are going to love the Maggies.

Those frames on them are very nice. Did they come with the speakers or did you add them yourself?

They're Magnestand modded from: http://www.indiespinzone.com/magnestand.html I like the result but the process was a bit of a pain. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably either try it myself or just get a 3.7i and be happy with it (this does sound better than a stock 3.7i though).

Interesting, thanks. I've been looking at mods for my MG12s, but for now it is just a thought without any imminent plan.

My fashionably messy bedroom setup, this is where most listening gets done.

Usher BE-718s, had to switch to the DMD tweeters a couple years back.

My living room has a Best Buy special mid-fi surround system. The bedroom system is where all my critical listening gets done also.

I think the Vidar and Maggies make a great pairing. Ima post some updated impressions in the Vidar thread soon.

I am tempted to upgrade to the Vidar but I really wish I had a better idea of how much of an upgrade it would be.

How do you like the dual sub setup
