I have been cleaning up my system. Still have to redo the cabling and find some good feet for under the speakers.

Nice Kinki !!! We had these JBL's in our shop for a couple weeks on loan, great at what they do. But seriously, the Kinki impresses most here :D Such a ridic value!

These are DIY designs based on the Eminence CX12 coaxial and the JBL Selenium DT220 tweeter in sealed birchwood cases. Something similar to this:

    http://audiovideo.fi/opas/kaiutinra...-pa-kaiuttimet-eminence-beta-8cx-beta-10cx-ja

Google translate will give you the idea.

The subwoofers are 18teensound 18wl2400 elements in 150 liters sealed cases. The surrounds are 8" Eminence coaxials.

    Here are my three systems:
Philharmonic BMR, Schiit Vidar, Saga, Modi 2 Uber, Pro-Ject Debut Carbon

Vanatoo Transparent One, PSB 100, Oppo HA-1 (mainly used as a preamp/dac now)

Zu Omen Dirty Weekend, NAD 3020, Schiit Lyr3, Bifrost Multibit, MrSpeakers Aeons (I set these up to tease my wife about the need to keep these speakers since the BMRs were the Zu replacements. They will be replaced with small bookshelfs) Please ignore the amazing cable management.

My old system I posted to reddit a long time ago:
Zu Omen Dirty Weekends, Rotel RC-1570, ADCOM GFA-555, Rega RP-1

I’m almost scared to ask, how do the zu speakers sound in the corner like that? Shame you can’t have them setup how you used to, I bet they sounded wonderful in that open area. At least you have 3 completely different systems to play with! I only have one :p Out of the current 3 systems you shared I’d have to say I like the looks of the Philharmonic one the most.

They sound pretty bad the way they're set up. The Zu's definitely are not good for near field lol.

The craziest thing is the BMR/Zu systems are in the same room. This house has a really long living room so our office area is across from the BMRs. The Philharmonic system is definitely the most fun and enjoyable to listen to. A lot of my listening is done across the room from the BMRs at my desk while my wife is listening to records.

They might sound a little better at ear level. Try raising them up maybe some books or bricks should do the trick.

If I were keeping them I might try and move them around to different orientations but they'll be sold soon and I'll get some small bookshelfs for the desk system.

I thought the goal of speakers was to disappear

Jbl 4367 > Kinki ex-m1 > schiit gungnir > my computer as source; jriver set to bit perfect playback, and Spotify.

Funny you say that, the JBL in my room throw a soundstage so wide, and imaging so pinpoint (you can close your eyes and point directly where the bass or vocalist is playing on virtually any track) that the speakers actually do a disappearing act and instead of hearing music come from the transducers, you hear vocals hang spookily in the air in the middle. There is literally the definition of a “phantom center” even the mid bass is very clearly imaged, which is something I’ve never experienced before on any speaker before this. It’s very cool.

Um.. unless this whole time you were referring to how I have the speakers lit up by my floor lamps. -shrugs- it draws your attention to them but personally I like the ambience, it’s depressing to sit in the dark (for me) and my room light is way too harsh.

Hi! Here's mine... after the pics i'll write some details about the setup!

    • Speakers: my version of the classic 2 way horn loudspeaker (diy). If someone care i can give lots of details about them. Maybe even in another thread...
    • Amp: a class A integrated with remote control (diy), we use our own designs and PCBs. As with the speakers i have plenty of details to give if someone care about it.
    • Analog Path: VPI traveler + modded 103 (with alu housing) + parks audio puffin (not shown in picture).
    • Digital path: Roon + Mac mini + a mojo (someone just lend it to me for a week, now there's another loaner).
    • Projector (that thing on the funny looking stool): LG Pf1000u ultra short throw.
    • Some cat toys here and there, obviously for the sonic improvements....
