    having never heard a Daft Punk song (to my knowledge), and finding their usage of the work punk a complete joke on modern wannabees- let's cut to a band that delivered debauchery, great songs and contributed to a (self-defined?) genre that boggles the mind.

    The Butthole Surfers. LSD soaked psych/punk/noise from Texas. They're way out there a lot of the time (especially the 80s material) so you gotta have an open mind. I always admired their sharp sense of humor and complete disregard to what people expected of them. Must be fun to be that free.

    "I Saw an X-ray..." would have gotten my vote. I've only heard a few of their albums but the hilariously named "Hairway to Stephen" was always my favorite.
