    New Monitor: Dell U2415.

Upgrade from a 22-inch Samsung to a 24-inch. Had thought that the crowded desktop would not have space for anything bigger, but the new monitor is only about the same overall size as the old one. Could easily have gone for an extra inch, if it had the same thing bezels. But all is good: would only have been more money that I can't afford.

The Dell is nice. Display is very easy on the eyes. but not lacking when it comes to photos etc. Over-all appearance, with its very thin borders, is great too. Viewing angle is wonderful compared to the old LCD. IPS compared to old TN, I suppose.

A small thing is that the presets seem to be actually useful: I have set "paper," for browsing as the default, with a one-touch button for "multimedia" for viewing photos.

I'm happy. But I would have been happier if the old one had made even half the age that CRTs used to last. A couple of months ago, I had replaced the backlights. Then a bright green vertical line appeared, and I decided not to spend more money on it.

Here's the battlestation. Both monitors are hooked to my main rig and the Dell workstation in my closet that acts as a file server.

Built my gaming rig last year to be near silent. Works pretty damn good.

    FX-8350 w/ Cryorig H7
    ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z
    8GB GSkill DDR3 2400
    EVGA 980 Ti SC
    Samsung 850Evo 250GB
    EVGA 750W PSU
    NZXT S340 w/ Fractal 140mm fans

Ran Witcher 3 on Ultra at 1440p with no problems. GSYNC on my Dell S2716DG works magic.

Didn't notice my cooler was on crooked until I took this. I also may have knocked it when removing the stock NZXT fans out of the exhaust ports when they died. Oops.

God tier cable management. I am not worthy (too lazy).

Also funny on that mobo serial, I have my old PC sitting to the left of my desk, it has a M4A87TD-E and a Phenom II X4. Needs a new case if it's going in my living room as an HTPC, but for the price of a case I can just buy a Raspberry Pi...

I kinda wanna try making a beowulf cluster out of R-pi's just for the kicks. Not sure what I'd actually use it for, rendering maybe.

That would be hilarious. Stick them all in one chassis with a hard drive (or not) and any PSU... No real video capability though, but I guess you wouldn't need it.

    Servers of the future?

Very nice setup Panda! I think I need to get some led lights for some accent lighting of my own. I fear they'd be too bright though. Can the LEDs' brightness be controlled? I'd want something super faint.

Thanks! I'm using the Ikea Dioder multicolor LED lights which come with a controller where you can change the color and color cycling effects but not the brightness. There are probably better alternatives with more features out there though.

The PG348Q's screen is great. Its stand? Well it's very stury and does its job extremely well, but it's also big as f**k and gaudy as f**k. It had to go.

One Amazon Basics Monitor Arm later and the desk has much more free space, and the setup is overall cleaner.

I have the EXACT same mousepad (rolled up somewhere as a spare now), and it's absolutely impossible to keep clean!

Setup looked sleek as hell, the monitor arm is definitely a nice touch though. Can it swivel/rotate?

For a Steel Series that's easy to clean, look for their glass based IceMats. I have both sizes, will never get rid of them.

I recently put together a new build for my Fiance'. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out

    Ryzen 7 1700
    Asrock Pro4 AB350
    h75 AIO Cooler
    GTX 970
    960 EVO 500 GB m.2 nVME ssd
    EVGA 750 Watt g3 80+ Gold
    Custom sleeved cables from Cablemod
Case is a bitfenix Prodigy M

Still waiting on her desk so I can set up her peripherals and get windows installed an configured. Also need to clean the side panel off a bit, but I'm probably gonna be in one or 2 more times so I figured I'd save that for last. For a small form factor build I'm pretty happy with how it looks

There's a small amount of backlight bleed in the corners, and the faintest of coil whine if the room and outside is dead silent. Other than that there's no faults with the monitor.

Picked up the Samsung CF791 on sale. One hell of a display. Now I just have to find where they packed my computer...
