Check this out when you guys get a chance: On-board video (with data) of the Manthey Racing Porsche GT2RS setting a production road car class-record lap at the famed Nordscheife circuit at The Nurburgring.

This video will give you an excellent feel for the circuit and the speeds these guys hit. Cray-cray, but a lot of fun! :p

Not unlike high-end audio, the degree of "diminishing returns" is getting pretty extreme w/ Nurburgring times these days.

Upgrading from this modded GT2RS to a Lotus Evija X prototype with ~2000hp will only cut another 14 seconds per lap, assuming you have the ears to hear (er, the skills to exploit) the differences.

True, which is why you have to pay Manthey Racing over $100,000 (conservative estimate, since I don't know which exact mods were used in the Nurburgring car) to change your $300,000 Porsche GT2 RS from a 6:48 car into a 6:43.30 car.

So I suppose the diminishing returns aren't really all that similar -- I don't know any audiophiles who would be willing to pay 30% more to get a 1.3% improvement in sound (not that we would know how to measure that -- though I suppose we could call ASR ;)).
